Difference Between Purchasing Tools and Subscribing to Faithlife Connect?

Could someone explain to me the difference between a one-time purchase of Logos tools and an ongoing subscription to Faithlife Connect? The different tiers of Faithlife Connect are also confusing when I try to compare them with a one-time purchase. Thank you!

If you take out a subscription, you have access to the tools included in that subscription level while your subscription is still active. Once you choose to not renew your subscription - and it lapses - you will no longer have access to those tools.

If you make a one-time purchase of those tools you will keep them permanently.

Thanks Graham. What you've described is the part I understand. What I don't understand is the apparent features that are available via a subscription that aren't available for purchase with the tools. Those apparent features also vary depending upon the subscription level.

Yes, I don't see any way to compare them (Connect). Nor any way to compare to Feature Sets.

What's worse, is if you have a decent library, and press the 'Owned' button, you can't see any totals for what you're given access to. Sort of have to add it up.

Just my opinion (given Logos.com), is write down what you need, and then see what it'd cost to buy/rent. And for the Essential/Premier levels, the extras ... if you actually want them.

Over the years, I bought the Feature Sets (I'm not a renter; opposite of Alabama). Just memory, maybe $150 every 2 years .... total $750? .... less than a Connect subscription each year. But I didn't need the extra books, movies, credits and so on. At Logos8, I didn't see any more features I needed, so my expense was zero.

That's the nice part. Done for now.

I agree it would be helpful if there were somewhere to compare the features available in Connect with the different feature sets - but as DMB says there isn’t any place to do that.

But I thought all tools available in Connect were purchasable in feature sets. Have you seen some where that is not the case?

There are the toolsets, which are limited in the starter subscription but then full in the essentials and premiere subscriptions. If I purchase, is that all I get? Or do I get the research libraries that are part of each subscription level as well? It isn't clear.

As you have noted, different Connect levels provide a range of tools and some resources.

Simililarly, if you purchase feature sets you get a range of tools and some associated resources. You can compare what you get with different purchses at https://www.logos.com/compare/featuresets

So we can manually check the difference between what we get with a subscription and what we get with a purchase - there is, unfortunately, no page on the website that compares them for us
