I've been using the LSB since late last year and find it both reminiscent of the NASB and refreshing.
But obviously, the LSB is not yet available in Logos, so I was faced with the question of how to quickly and efficiently get the text into my notes and manuscripts.
My system works very well most of the time, and it would be appropriate for any Bible version that Logos doesn't have, provided you can find an online source.
First, you'll need a capable macro program. Since I'm a Mac user, I use Keyboard Maestro. The same principles should work in Windows, however.
I have recorded a YouTube video showing what the macro does, as well as showing how I have the macro set up in Keyboard Maestro. You can find it here. There is a copy of the macro attached to the YouTube video, and you can inport it into Keyboard Maestro.
For those without Keyboard Maestro, the principles should still work in other macro applications. The two most important ingredients are:
- The ability to pause a macro until the system clipboard changes.
- The ability to combine clipboards.
If your program can do that, then you should be able to follow the steps in the video (summarized below) to create your own version.
Here is what my macro does in summary form:
- Copies the reference I have highlighted (e.g., 1 John 1:9).
- Opens a web page to the desired Bible page.
- Pastes the reference in the search field and presses enter.
- Waits until I have selected and copied the text I want.
- Closes the browser window.
- Returns to the original program.
- Pastes in the copied text followed by the reference.
In other words, with just a couple of keystrokes
1 John 1:9
becomes
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
I hope this might be helpful to someone.
