Add dictionary to information

When reading commentaries I hover over a word to see the definition in the information pane and often there is no definition. For instance I am studying Genesis 15 and a commentary used suzerain, I hover over it and under definition in the information pane it just gives pronunciation. This has happened several times.

I see I have a bunch of dictionaries yet I get no definition. How do I change this?

Well, normally the answer is prioritizing english dictionaries. In my case, I put AYD above Oxford Concise Dicitonaries, so I get the major discussion as priority.

But, the software also tries to find a word in unprioritized dictionaries, where not found in a prioritized dictionary. So, for example, it sometimes looks in my MerriamWebster for inflected words.

So, I guess the question, is ... have you checked the dictionaries you have, to see if indeed 'suzerain' (example) is in them? I assume you're on the desktop platform.

If you open the Settings area of the Definition section you should see, at the top, what happens in terms of Surface Text matching.

What is that set to?

when i see the info bar, i don't see a setting portion. Perhaps i am looking in the wrong place?

edit: I see it now. Weird, I only see a portion of my dictionaries as options.

when you hit the arrow next to dictionary thats when the settings thing is visible. When you select that you select your priority resource. But all my dictionaries do not show up as options.

Weird, I only see a portion of my dictionaries as options.

If, on the top line, I click Top Resource I get the choice of a large range of dictionaries. Are you not seeing something similar?

You should leave the selection as Top Resources as it will use your prioritised dictionaries e.g. my English dictionary (COED) follows a number of bible dictionaries but it will be used for general English words that are not in the bible.
