Pre-Pub Purgatory

Any reason that a pre-pub would be "in production" for a complete year? When I ordered, it was still generating interest, but it has been fully funded for a year now. Just a simple monograph. It just feels like some authors/publishers get streamlined, while smaller publishers get stuck in the waiting room. I'm not screaming conspiracy just yet, but this process is a tad exhausting. I've reached out to Logos customer service (a tad rude), who informed me that it is under contract and in production but couldn't promise any possible month or year for production. And they told me that there isn't anyone at Logos who can answer that question. I knew I shouldn't have prayed for patience.

Yes, there are reasons beyond Faithlife's control - they are dependent upon the person/company specified in the contract sending the files to them so they can begin processing them. I know a case where receiving the files is the problem. Some resources have structures that are difficult to get into Logos format - one BHS product was hung up on that for a very long time. I am sure that there are many other issues, but these are the only two cases where I know of the specific reason a specific resource was stalled.

FL used to offer tentative dates for a resource's debut, but a variety of obstacles pushed some dates past the "deadline", and suddenly FL was being charged with failing to keep "promises". As a result, they almost never give guesses, estimates, etc., about product debuts. Patience is the key.

I'm afraid you're on a fools errand. There is no solid timetable available for resources in production. Many factors are intermeshed and ramify on the release date of a particular title. FL is in the business of selling resources it is to their advantage to have as many resources available for purchase as possible.
You like the rest of us, will have to wait patiently for our favorite title in production to be released.
Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

Hopefully they produce resources faster than George R.R. Martin writes books.

I think the problem is that he is writing books, just not "the" book that his fans are famished for. Pretty sure HBO and D&D soured him on ASOIAF. Seems like I saw an article link to his webpage that said the next book is almost on its way to the publisher. Personally haven't read any of his stuff (or any other fiction in the last 15-20 years, for that matter), but watched a series by a guy on YT that is a big Martin fan. He summarized most of his novels, especially his sci-fi stuff. I think the big question is will he finish the last book before he's finished. I think he's going to be cutting it close.
As far as FL is concerned? Feels a lot like one step forward and two steps back for most of the issues that concern me.

It’s hard to say. I’ve seen resources go live very quickly. I’ve seen some languish for years. I imagine it would require inside knowledge of Faithlife, its resources, the rights process, and the amount of work needed to bring the specific product to completion before asking what is reasonable.
