Updates Available: What Are They? And?
Are there updates available today? What are they and are there any issues with them if any?

They are posted on PDT ... its a bit early to expect them although looking through past posts it appears anything from 8:30-4:30 is the norm with afternoon (2ish) being most common.

The request and response aren't entirely clear.
If the request was about Software Updates then they usually appear in this forum with a title like "9.14 (9.14.0.0026) is now available" pinned at the top. You could expect 9.15 to appear 4-6 weeks after that post. The changes are available when you open the thread. If you look in the Desktop Beta Forum you can check the progress of 9.15 (currently Beta 3).
Martha's reply may indicate a timeframe (Pacific Day Time) for release?

MJ and Dave, the plot thickens. My call with customer service was obtuse. She told me there was no way of knowing what the updates were until I downloaded them.
Once I downloaded them absolutely nothing perceivable changed. Same resource list and number as well as number of datasets. Along the bottom it still reported that I was looking at the resources and datasets updated over the last 7 days.
The service rep told me if I wanted to see a change in the state of things she suggested I open a FeadBear; which I fully intend to do. Oh, I did fail to mention that the 3 in the blue circle changed to a 2; this was the sole change.

If you would like to know what updates are being downloaded to your software prior to performing a download. Join me in making this request explicit. Vote and comment here:

I was unclear as the update/updates are unknown to me they are described as 197.7KB "updates" ready for download. Before I action on them I would like to know what they are and how they may possibly impact the software. I've made no recent unaccounted purchases and the size of the updates are relatively small.
That size of download could be a new resource (which you should be expecting) or it will be updates to several of your resources (including datasets, which don't appear in Library). Faithlife policy is not to publish/forecast resource updates (or what changes were made). They will not impact the software and you will see what resources were updated after you permit the download.
If the update size is around 200 MB or more it could indicate a software update, and I stated how to get information about those in my previous post. If there is no indication of a software update in the forums then it will be a resource update.

I responded before I saw this post, so I confirmed what CS told you.

Normally, clicking the blue circle should tell you what is happening from "Downloading xxx MB", "Preparing Library", "Indexing...." to stating exactly what books and datasets were updated.
"same resource list and number...." display does happen after a download. I can only assure you that a download occurred with those resources/datasets and that nothing untoward happened.
Along the bottom it still reported that I was looking at the resources and datasets updated over the last 7 days.
That was telling you to click for information about updates over the last 7 days. Sorting Library by the "Last Updated" column will tell you what happened "today" and earlier

Dave, do you think asking for complete transparency on all updates is asking too much? If you tell me this is an unreasonable expectation I will back off and let this die.
I'm glad you asked this question because I was going to state that it requires a lot of work for FL to do this. In the General and Logos 9 Desktop forums you will often see requests that affect the usability of a resource(s), and an acknowledgement that changes will be made will warn you in advance (if you own the resource). Sometimes FL will flag a major update and indicate its affect on current owners. Otherwise, most changes come via the Report typo facility in the Context menu.
I won't tell you to back off. Only that I'm not concerned to know the nitty-gritty of changes made to my "medium" size library

Not Dave but ... by what appears to be your definition of "complete transparency," i.e. more that the change notes (in the release post/wiki) for the software, the dataset announcements (forum post by Rick for the data wrestlers, and the "if needed" posts from Kyle for "abnormal" updates, then yes I think it is asking too much? Why? because of the resources required to create and expose the information. I'm into minimizing the overhead costs and spending manpower on software, software documentation, and resources used by the software. I understand why others may disagree with me, so I gladly leave the final decision with Faithlife.
