Vote for an Important Addition to Go Box
First, we need a hotkey for Bible verse look up. Second, instead of preferred Bible, I think we should have the Bible name either be the accepted abbreviation e.g. NIV11 or spelled out as it is in the Search section. I prefer the former.
More changes to the Go Box are necessary, but I feel like the FeedBear cub. I need help. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm in a bit of a foul mood. Please consider these changes and vote and comment if you agree they would improve the Go Box. Link to FeedBear: Vote and Comment!

The following is a message for forum participants in general. The Go Box has become a central feature of Logos and at its best it can save time and add value by fronting information that users are desirous for. About a month ago I highlighted a MP tip that made the Go Box shine. If you missed it you have another opportunity to see the Go Box at its best:
https://community.logos.com/forums/p/207793/1210496.aspx
Would that all aspects of the Go Box featured such ease and utility, this however, is not the case. Because the Go Box stands out in its centrality of function with the program. Every detail is important. This is why I'm committed to making it work for the user and eliminating any feature that fails to add value to its function. I urge all users to get involved. Vote and comment. But, most importantly discuss your ideas and hone them to a fine point, then add them as suggestion for design adaptations. Visit, vote, and comment:
Respectfully,
Beloved

Note the image from the linked page you mentioned about this MP particular power user trick with the Go Box ... it actually only addressed how to find a particular Bible verse by entering just some word and then selecting from the drop down options the item "search in Bible resource ..." to open a search window!
As you can see there is nothing about a "special use of the Go Box", but simply how the current function of the Go Box can be used to effectively find a verse when you only remember a certain expression in the Bible but don't recall the exact place in the Bible.
In the picture you see how the needed command entry to accomplish the task is found among Search commands quite a few lines down in the list with other command options (such as Resources and Tools related commands) listed above it ...
Thus, actually, other aspects of the Go Box features DO work with the very same ease and utility => entering relevant info in the Go Box "A", wait to see the various options in the drop down list and select the option that fits what you want to do "B".

Also note that for this user, the Resources section is at the top as his highest priority and search is down a ways.

Google Search will never replace Logos Search. "hieroglyphics" can be removed but you still have to learn the principles of Logos Search to apply it properly.

Giving at least intermediate/advanced users the option of providing custom input to the 'machine learning' aspects of the GO Box would be very helpful. For example, it would be very nice if I could 'tell' Verbum that when I type a Scripture passage into the GO Box, I don't want Factbook articles as the first set of results. Or, something that would probably be easier to program, implement, and train users to do: I do want the Passage Study Layout to be the first thing that comes up when I type in a Scripture passage to the GO Box with no other commands.
"If <GO Box Contents> = <Scripture Passage>, then [First Result] = [Open Passage Study Layout to <Scripture Passage>]."
Of course, Faithlife would give other options, such as "Go to <Scripture Passage> in preferred Bible", "Start Reading Aloud at <Scripture Passage>", "Open Factbook to <Article>"....
But if the logic their system is using was anywhere near that open to adjustment, we would probably already have, "If <Go Box Contents> = "lookup"+<Any Word>, then [First Result] = [Look up <Any Word>], which Faithlife is apparently effectively unable to do.

And the next user has to re-program things to get rid of passage guide because it is not what is wanted as first result ... You know, if you offer more than one item in a list, something has to be first, something else will be next and something will be last. Sometimes, one person finds what they are looking for in first position, sometimes another person finds their preference in first position in a list ... simple truth!
The Go Box (just as is) provides different appropriate and pertinent items in the same listing ... and users very easily then chose which item in the list they would like to use; sometimes it might be the one at the top of the list, sometimes it is at the bottom of the list. So What ??? When someone serves a plate with different foods or fruit, is it a big problem because my favorite food is not on the side of the plate pointing right toward me and I may need to turn the plate around to then pick it up ??Wolfgang Schneider

Not trying to back-step with me.... and I don't mean to offend...... but....
One could argue... why not have Go Box go to to Sermon Builder... or Notes or ... and the list could go on to infinity. ..... or maybe they could just have numbers for everything and all we have to do is remember what number we use and our favorite function will pop up.... Why? Why have the Go Box do anything except call Search or if a passage, call Bible? Seems simple to me.... less argument all the way around... And less "bloatware" for Logos.... All these "additions" does actually take a toll on Logos ... even if we don't see it.
As a priority ....... I would rather FL just stop Factbook from popping up in the Go Box and spend time on improving Search and some of the other functions they already have. I think Search and Factbook need work.... which I have argued for. I believe doing this first would vastly improve Logos to all users. One important thing about Bible users..... they want resources.... and they want to find things in their resources... and I'm one of those users. I didn't buy a Bible program for political reasons.... or to brag about having the best one..... but I will brag on how fast I can find something in the Bible program I have simply because that's what helps me in my studies of the Bible. And studying the Bible is important to me.

The Go Box does itself not call anything ... it puts together a list of possible different Search command possibilities and displays that list. The user then has the liberty to chose which search of which resource, tool, etc. he/she wants to execute.
Seems to me that instead of understanding what the Go Box is designed to do, the waters have been rather muddied with ideas that do not pertain to the Go Box functionality but perhaps are about the Search tool (or some other feature).

Indeed ... same here. So then, just open Search tool directly for searching words or expressions, or favorite Bible directly for then entering a reference instead of using the Go Box and have it open a Search tool or Bible for you.

xnman, I'm also interested in the quality of information I get. This is where the search capabilities of Logos shines. Now, I know we can stand some simplification of its implementation, but Logos can give you information that is just not possible with other Bible programs.

Why have the Go Box do anything except call Search or if a passage, call Bible?
Because other users find it valuable to do other things from there as well - I've mentioned a few elsewhere.
For example:
- it is currently the only place in the software where we can directly enter Logos commands - such as rebuild index
- I find it useful - really helpful - to be able to open resources directly from there instead of going to the Library to do so
I rarely, if ever, use the Go Box to run a search - I click the Search icon if I want to do that.

Thanks - and for those cases I would still use the Search window and use the Fuzzy Search results.

The Go Box is a Command box ... not a search tool. It is designed for users to be able to issue certain Logos software related commands (e.g. you can issue a re-index command, a synchronize command, etc.)
Instead of using the Go Box to call Search, you have the Search icon directly to the left of the command box.

Agree, Graham! Except in the special case of using the Go Box for verses I can't quite remember in detail.
Amodeo, the MP tip in essence uses a nifty short cut of how to use the listing capability of different searches in the Go Box for the user to then select doing a search in the preferred Bible for an expression. Note, the option for that may be further down the list and not necessarily at the top of the list. This MP power user trick is actually just a short cut for clicking the Search icon to open a search, entering the expression and executing the search in the Bible ...
The "special case" is only in saving some clicks, but it also comes with a price of utilizing certain preset parameters, whereas using the Search tool would give a number of more options to fine tune the search already .... instead of doing that in a second step anyways.Wolfgang Schneider

If you missed it you have another opportunity to see the Go Box at its best:
Despite MP, I think it best to drop the "GO Box" terminology. The GO Box was a specific text box on the home page designed specifically for beginning users to have ready access to features - especially to premade layouts. The GO Box and the Command Box were combined into a single text box serving as a universal input box or command box. It is much broader than a GO Box -- continuing to use an old term for a discontinued feature strikes me as a disfavor for understanding how to use Logos.
I will simply state that Logos refers to itself as Bible Software
At various times they have also referred to themselves as library software ... especially Libronix 3 and Noet
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Yes! A kind of Cmd+SpaceBar, and acept a wide variety of commands, such as: "Short-Name-of-the-desired-bible+verse" or "short_name <any_book>", or whatever you want.
Basically make the Go Box that powerful pop-up Cmd+SpaceBar!
