2nd computer no longer updating

I have two computers - mine and my wife's. She rarely uses her. Both have had update channels set to Beta. I noticed however that my wife's computer is no longer auto-updating. She is stuck at 4.0d RC1, but should be current with mine at 4.1 beta3. I tried changing the update channel to "default" as well as to "stable" on her computer, and also tried exiting and restarting Logos each time I changed, but everytime I get "no updates available" when I run the "update now" command. How can I force her computer to update?

You may double check to see that the program settings

Automatically Download Updates

and maybe

Use Internet

are set to Yes.

If they are set to No then maybe setting them to Yes will trigger the update.

Did you set the update channel back to beta after experimenting with default and stable? My computer didn't automatically update to the next beta either after 4.0d RC1 and I had to manually set my update channel to beta gain. That's apparently the way it's supposed to work, though I've disputed with people over this.

If that doesn't do the trick, try starting up with the Ctrl key held down. This will force her to log in again to the Logos server afresh, which might jog something that got stuck in sensing that there are updates available.

Could "Change Update Channel to Beta" then "Update Now" - if not work, wonder about logs ?

When starting with CTRL key down, I learned that I cannot sign in with my username and password. This is getting to the source of the problem. After a lot of messing around, I deleted all logos files to do a fresh install. I successfully downloaded the Logos4setup.exe file, but when I run the setup file, it seems to hang. It creates a folder .../logos4/install with a zero bit file named BITS.tmp and looks like it is downloading something, but after 45 minutes there is no change. Just window saying "Downloading Logos4 web script..." with the progress bar that is totally blank. The BITS.tmp file remains a zero bit file, and nothing else has been added to the folder. I've tried this several times, along with rebooting the computer, and still no progress. Not sure what to do next.

Since you're so close to an uninstall, remove what's there. Then delete the folder that Logos stores itself in.

WARNING: this will delete all the resources as well and will lead to another massive download. If you wish you can save the resources by copying the folder somewhere else, and later using the "scan c:\path\to files\" command to restore them.

The folder to remove is generally located under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Logos4\

If you delete that Logos 4 folder (after running the standard uninstall) and then run the install you should have a clean system.

Will the computer do a Windows update properly?

In the deep crevices in my mind I had a similar problem and I am thinking it was because some of the services that Windows update uses had been turned off.

I seem to also remember that someone mentioned the Background Intelligent Transfer Service had been disabled causing problems with installation.

Check in the Administrative services to see if that service is enabled.
