Compact Notes: Thanks!

I didn't see this in any of the release notes & not sure when it got added (B4 maybe?), but it's nice to now be able to compact all of my notes & view a single one! Awesome!

I am pretty sure that expanding a single note was just added in this beta., It also looks like dragging notes to reorder is on its way as the line appears to drop the note although it is not functioning yet.
Thanks Logos, I only put the suggestion on user voice a few days ago and you already have it done...since that worked so well. How about PBB by Friday and Sermon filer for next Monday?

I take that back. I am able to drag the highlight color and rearrange the notes.

Love it!

Do tell. I still haven't figured it out. I can compact the one note I'd expanded by expanding another one. But I can't get it back to all collapsed again. Even clicking on Full and then Compact remembers which note was expanded and expands it again. I have to close the Notes file and reopen it again to clear that memory.
I was kind of wishing there were a way to compact a single note when viewing in Full mode, and in fact to just generally expand and collapse any combination of notes at random that you want. But then I realized that in practice, we're really only working with one note at a time, or we want to see all of them. So that would be a lot of extra coding for the developers for a low priority feature enhancement (which might even get in the way of how nicely it works now where you just double click on another one and it opens up and the previous one you'd opened closes), and I decided not to suggest it.

Sweet. This is a great improvement to notes. I think I'm going to un-vote for your suggestion and put it elsewhere [:)].

You can also exapnd a single note and close it (leaving all others in compact mode as well) by left clicking in the scroll bar of the panel. It would be nice if there was a way to open multiple notes while leaving the others collapsed; but I agree that is not something I would want developers spending a bunch of time on right now.

To me, this is weird behaviour and seems like a very BAD decision.
The scroll bar should be for scrolling (hence its name). This is a bad and non intuitive use for the scroll bar!
There should be a different way to collapse and expand notes and this method should be consistent throughout the application. The various guides have a very good way of expanding and collapsing sections that is really obvious and should be used here!

I agree with Clinton. I was clicking on the yellow square and expecting it to expand or collapse a note, but instead, I was given a pop-up to change the color of the yellow square. I would rather the yellow square click allow me to collapse or expand the note.

I agree. This is absurd. Someone else reported this as a bug today, and even Melissa thought it was a bug. Nobody will be expecting the scroll bar to behave this way. Overriding well-established UI elements is not good design. (Maybe it is indeed not by design but a bug. Let's hope Logos didn't do this weird thing on purpose.)

Instead of changing the function of the colorizing the note icon add a twirl down triangle.
While we are mentioning the colors of note icons, I would like to see the colorizing of note icons (and more importantly the selection for selection notes) to include Highlighting palettes/styles.

I agree too. The notes are actually collapsing whenever you somewhere else in the window, that can be another note, the scroll bar (or the right side if there is no scroll bar), or the empty space at the bottom.
Other problems: if you click on a note link in a resource to a currently compact note window, the window goes back to full state. But then it won't scroll to the actual note. (Edit: this has happened twice to me, but I can't always reproduce it)
It's like it's being designed without a plan.

Apologies to Logos if this is a bug.
I assumed it was by design in my original post and should not have, sorry!

Clinton
PS Either way it is still something to fix.

I think Notes should work this way because I got frustrated with a single note file and 6 annotations! Having not seen this thread until now I went ahead and made the suggestion.

OK - Someone please help me out here. I'm a new Logos user. I'm running the latest Mac version, and I don't have the options for "Full" or "Compact" AT ALL. I really want to be able to view my notes as a compact list. Anyone know about this?

This is probably a question for the Mac forum; but you may get a reply here as well since I know of a couple of Mac guys who also monitor this forum. I have never run a Mac version so I cannot comment on what you should or should not see since the Mac and PC versions are not in the same cycle of evolution (no theological thoughts intended) right now.

That has not yet been implemented for L4 Mac. In fact, Notes still lack several features on the Win version. It is coming, but I cannot even guess how soon it will arrive. I started a thread in the Mac Beta forum concerning these missing features. If I hear anything from the Mac Dev Team, I will post it here.
It is Christmas, so I don't expect to hear anything for a few days.

Thanks, Fred. Thanks, Jack. I just found the Mac forums, so I'll be hanging out over there and checking things out. Blessings!
