NIV Study Bible?

Before I bought my hard copy ESV Study Bible (BTW, I'm VERY glad that The ESV Study Bible Notes now have a ship date!), I used to use my NIV Study Bible quite a bit.
I read in another post that there had been some friction between Logos and Zondervan (?) that may now be resolved. Does this mean that we might look forward to an NIV Study Bible Notes product in the (near?) future?
Does anyone else have any interest in such a product?
What about study bible notes from other popular and/or "classic" study bibles?
Thanks!

Yes, I'd love to see the NIV Study Bible notes. That was my standard Bible for years.

I've expressed interest in it several times. I even contacted Zondervan a few months ago.
Me: "Will the NIV Study Bible be released for Logos? If so, will it be available as a stand-alone product or in a package, or both?
I'm
also interested to know if there will be an Old Testament study package
with something like the NIV Study Bible, NIDOTTE, and the illustrated
OT Bible Backgrounds commentary?"Zondervan replied: "I am sorry, but Zondervan does not have this
information. You would need to contact Logos. The only information
that I have available is what is on their web site.
http://www.logos.com/zondervan"So either their rep was totally clueless, or Zondervan isn't making its own packages or decisions about what to release, which would surprise me.

Do you think we can expect NIV Study Bible coming to Logos or we are to expect all new NIV and possibly new NIV Study Bible in a near future? New NIV should be here in 2011, if I am not mistaken.

Or, the rep is just being intentionally evasive (that might be "official policy" while negotiations are going on). And, yes, I would also be surprised if Zondervan were not involved in decisions involving its own products.

I'm thinking that since the NIVSB was Zondervan's "off the shelf" entry level Pradis product, it would only make sense that we will see it in Logos.
Perhaps it will be available when Zondervan releases their boxed retail version of Logos...

Concordia Publishing House has the NIV Study Bible adapted with some Luther and Lutheran Comments at a reasonable price. It is essentiallly the NIV Study Bible, perhaps 90 Plus %. There is a little + indicated where there is a Lutheran note or comment. Each book of the Bible also has a paragraphy of what Luther thought about it at the very beginning of the chapter.
Excellent resource.

I assume that Z will introduce a new revised NIVSB with the introduction of the new 2011 version of the NIV, since that is their signature product. It is probably in the works right now at Z.

I would imagine that if Z were releasing a brand new SB, it would take a few years after the full translation appears. I would think a new SB would be in order a) because of the new translation and b) to compete more "freshly" with the excellent ESVSB

Am trying to attach a page from the Concordia Study Bible .... John 1 is a basic example, I would think ........ Note, for instance, verse 9 - there's a "cross" there .. that is a Concordia note .. if you have a print copy of the NIV, you might want to compare ...

HAAAARUUUUMPH! New NIV? New NIV?!!!! If the old NIV was good enough for Jesus and St. Paul, it is good enough for me!
Has word usage and vocabulary changed so that the NIV is no longer easily understood? Have they discovered places where the translation is incorrect and can be improved? Or is this just a sales gimmick.
Not that I don't like new translations. I am not just stuck in the past (even if I don't think a decent song has been written since 1975.) I certainly think that the New Living Translation is a vast improvement over the old Living Bible, and it at least deserves the title "Translation". I even like the New RSV somewhat. I like the Message paraphrase for devotional reading. But I really don't want them messing with my NIV or my NASV for that matter.
Okay, I will give the New New International Version at try, but I won't like it. It has to be a plot - a conspiracy!
And yes, I would love to have the NIV Study Bible notes - so long as they are the OLD NIV Study Bible notes, and not some new fangled fad.
HAAARUUUUMPH!

With men hidden in the room, she called to him, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” But he snapped the thongs as easily as a piece of string snaps when it comes close to a flame. I can't help but imagine the "mind picture" some will get when they think of wet, non-fresh thongs...

I've been asking for this for years, I've even typed in a lot of the NIVSB notes as notes in L3. I would love to see it in L4. Stek's intro and notes on the Psalms alone would be worth what we're paying for the ESV Study Bible notes (IMHO, of course).

You may get more attention from Logos for this request if you started a new thread under suggestions. I have this study Bible in paper, but it is bulky and I haven't used it much. Now days I spend less time with paper books. I might use it a lot more if it was available in Logos.

I have never really understood the need to have study Bibles ported to Logos, the genre is useful in printed form but with the ability to link to commentaries of whatever depth you feel like I do not understand the need for study bible notes in Logos unless you are very commentary light.

Mike, I am generally with you. I don't refer to them that often. However, here are a few reasons to depart from that (some that are my own considerations, some which are others')
- you get their quality maps and charts (ESV SB, eg)
- you get quality articles (again, ESVSB) that are good and thorough on their own
- you can link it up with daily Bible reading and just get quick insight as you read your Bible. Think about using that on an iPad in church, or for devotions, for instance. Rather than wading through a commentary.
- A persons commentary section is weak and out-dated. no coin for new sets . . . [:O]
Anyway, a couple ideas why a person might want it.

Agreed. I've found the study Bibles in Logos to be lackluster by comparison with commentaries....

When you are developing study materials it is very handy to have what participant's will have in their hands at your fingertips.

Post Scofield era, I've never taught a group that all had the same study Bible. These days, its rare for half the learners to have the same translation. [:P]

This is not my experience. NAB and NRSV pretty much covers it - despite my love of NJB and the Community Bible.

The crazy thing is international users are allowed to buy:
NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible Notes (NIVBTSB) | Logos Bible Software previously branded as NIV Zondervan Study Bible. The title was changed I think because people were getting confused between this and the original NIV Study Bible.
However, in the UK Hodder and Stoughton publish the NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible under its old name the NIV Zondervan Study Bible (Anglicised).
Other Bible software companies don't have the issues of international rights that Logos have...
Case in point I could not purchase the New Jerusalem Bible from Logos, so I purchased from Wordsearch. Then Logos aquired Wordsearch and I was able to transferred it over.[:)]
