How often are snapshots created?

After being in L4Mac for a hour or so this morning, I had another crash while typing in a search term in the ISBE, using the <cmd v> inline search box. This isn't the first time this has happened, and not the same resource as last time. Upon restart, I find that there are no recent layouts since sometime yesterday. Does the syncing not keep track of current layouts more regularly than this?

To quote Kevin Becker from a post dated Apr 18, "User data syncs. This means that documents such as notes, clippings, and reading plans etc. syncs (basically anything you see in the file menu). If you manually save a layout, it syncs. The automatically generated snapshots of layouts do not sync. The data on where a book was when you close it does not sync. This information is kept locally (not synced) so you have the ability to keep studies separate on different machines without messing up resource locations in the middle of something."

Note that you can force an update to the current layout by giving it a name, and then doing "Update to current snapshot" periodically after you've made lots of changes to it. Logos will save locally a copy of what your layout looked like when you closed normally. But if you exited prematurely (crash) this state will not get saved. Ideally Logos should never crash, so this will eventually be a moot point. But while it's still got crashing bugs in it, I'd save your Layout periodically if you care about retaining it.

The data on where a book was when you close it does not sync.

Actually this one is inaccurate. And if it could be tweaked a bit, it might be more useful. I am reading Book "A". When I close my laptop, I don't close Logos. I leave it up all the time basically. When I get out my iPhone, and open the same book, it will be where I left off on the Mac. If I read for a while, then go back to the Mac, the location does not change. However, if I close the book on the Mac first, then read on the iPhone, re-opening it later on the Mac will find it where I left off on the iPhone. However, if the book stays open on either platform, it will not be changed by use on the other platform. This also applies to use between Mac and Win.

The automatically generated snapshots of layouts do not sync.

I would be thrilled to see an auto save feature, similar to Word, that saves the current snapshot on intervals set by the user. It would be very helpful for this to be available on any machine as well. Maybe it could be "machine name current".
