Bug: Verbum 10 Mac Silicon Locked Up on Loading Layout

Stupid me (smiling).  I usually wait for a month or two for bug clearance.

The layout has 8 windows; it loads everything great, except the main window.  Then spins. And spins. Force quit.  Tried several times. Indexing complete.

Not in the mood for the usual diagnostics, etc. Will wait a couple months for Verbum 10.1.

    You have me curious ... what resource would not load in the offending tile?

    Well, being the stubborn type, I wanted to at least isolate 'what'.

    First, I discovered, it does load ... but after 2 minutes. 

    So, with the loaded layout, I slowly deleted pieces at a time, restarting each step.  No problem, since I was also BBQ'ing (the new normal; no BBQ'ing during no-rain).  From that, even progressing up to a single panel fully loaded, still a problem.  I did find 2 issues (which didn't help):

    - FL has been 'series'ing a lot of non-series books.  So if you have several in a layout, the load seems to get mixed up trying to decide which of the series to display.  I watched that in action.  I re-seried the offending ones.

    - You can accidentally leave 'add resource' tabs after you didn't add resources (the last tab in a panel). Deleted 2 of those.

    Next, I rebuilt the layout, resource by resource. And restarted each window.  From that I saw the timing was incremental (linear), and slow.  So I re-indexed, with no benefit.  By the time I had the complete layout, the timing was no different from the initial layout problem.

    But!

    This morning, I restarted Verbum. And saw the source of the problem (screen copy below).  In the filter box, I don't have anything on my Mac. Of course, on the right side I do.  And the right side works fine.  Indeed just closing the filter box creates an L8 (except for the slow resource load times).

    Then there's no L10 upgrade from yesterday.  Basically, I'm pre-yesterday.  I'll call in a refund.

    I'm guessing their tinkering with the print library caused the problem. I have a 2 library panels in my layout, which in L9 worked fine.  Can't tell for L10. I rebuilt the library index but no impact.  I am seeing a lot of how FL codes ... they seem to have no internal diagnostics.  Which is unfortunate for their target market.

    If Alabama passes by here, the locked up library panel text boxes work now, with L10.  But random popups from underlying windows are still a prolbem; hard to close them without switching windows.

    OK, more info (just documenting).

    I had the internet turned off in L10 (V10!) to make sure not a communications issue with the server.

    So I turned it back on, and restarted.  The library corrected.  Which tells me, FL wasn't entirely correct in saying the filter box comes from the library; it appears to come from the server.

    OK, so no refund!  I'll sit back and wait for 10.1.
