Simpler Search

A simpler search syntax and clearer UI makes searching quicker and more intuitive, opening up the power of Logos Search to you!

What is it?

You no longer need to remember angle brackets and curly braces, but use a simple keyword:value syntax familiar from Google and other search engines.

For example,  <Person Moses> WITHIN {Speaker <Person Jesus>} becomes person:Moses IN speaker:Jesus, to find all the times Jesus talks about Moses.

“Search All’’ results pages intelligently surface results in the most relevant datasets, without you needing to know the dataset exists, nor the special syntax that dataset requires.

If you use the older syntax, Logos will detect it and suggest the new syntax.

How to access it?

  1. Open the Logos mobile app.
  2. Click on the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the main navigation bar at the bottom.
  3. Type any word into the search bar.
  4. Choose your desired search query in the top right corner of the Search tool.

Available Search Queries:

  • All
  • Bibles: Top Bible, Top Bibles, All Bibles, All Open Bibles, Select a Bible, Collection
  • Books: All Books, All Open Books, Select a Book, Collection
  • Factbook

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this new feature. Please provide your feedback in the comments below.

This is a great improvement.  I like the fact that more involved searches now work on IOS.  Also loving the timeline feature on IOS and web as well as the speed on M2 macbook. This is a really good upgrade.😁

Will there be a web page documenting the new search syntax like there was for the old Syntax?

There are two places you can go for help on the new syntax:

Mark...   I'm a thinking you had a lot to do with the simpler search... and I for one appreciate it more than you know! You have made Logos 10 something that is now helpful to people like me.

You may know from past posts... I had stopped using Search in L9... but now... I feel if nothing else.. than the new Search... it's worth the upgrade! Thanks for listening!!

xn = Christan man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

Barney Fife is my hero! He only uses an abacus with 14 rows!

And please bring this back! The latest version removes this and requires multiple taps to achieve the same thing, one at the bottom of the screen and the other at the top!
