BUG: Layouts not syncing between iOS and iPadOS devices

Since the release of Logos version 10.0.0 for iOS and iPadOS, my layouts have not synced. For example, whenever I edit a layout, go to the menu, and tap "update layout," the change never transfers to my other devices. Highlights are syncing.

Here are the measures I have taken to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensured both devices were connected to the internet;
  2. Confirmed both devices were signed into the same account;
  3. Manually synced data from the settings menu;
  4. Restarted both devices;
  5. Uninstalled and reinstalled apps on both devices;
  6. Removed all mobile devices from my account.

I am unsure if this is a known issue, but it appears to be a legitimate bug.

    Thank you Cheryl, I can reproduce this issue and I will write up a case. I'll reach back out when the issue is resolved.

    Hi Cheryl, after further investigation, I notice that this is actually intended behavior. We purposefully do not sync your layouts across devices because of the ability to create more complex layouts on tablets verses phones.

    Ali,

    Thank you for your response and for investigating this issue. This is unfortunate. I made much use of the ability to sync layouts between mobile devices. I found it very helpful. While this doesn't prevent me from using Logos on mobile, it does make it far less attractive and valuable.

    While I would never use iOS unless under severe duress, this kind of elimination of functionality is a sort of theft, very similar to what I have had to contend with in my usage of Logos over the last nearly 15 years. I have had numerous daily-use programatic functions ripped away with no recourse. I waited over two years for an update from L9 to L10 in the hope that some of what was lost would be returned, but that seems to have been a fool's errand. In my experience, Logos is a broken cistern, and the majority of time I have invested in it has evaporated into the ether. When people pay for functionality, only to have it ripped from them, that is theft, not just of the functionality itself, but of the opportunity to reap benefits from all the time and work invested by way of the vanished functionality. I've got $6K in my cart for my first L10 purchase, but instead I'm seriously considering asking for a refund...a full refund of my entire investment. Logos is shifting sand.

    I agree that this is a loss. For me, the syncing of layouts is not about screen position of panes between devices, but a collection of resources opened and synced to the proper locations.

    I was actually hoping for an expanded syncing (to include desktop) instead of limiting the syncing further.

    Also, if syncing is not going to work between iOS and ipadOS, there should be some explanation on the layouts page explaining this limitation. I probably tried for 30 minutes to identify why my layout syncing was not working before I came here to the forums to see if anyone else was having this issue.

    Limiting communications. That's been Libronix, Logos, and Faithlife along the way. It sort of started with the former CEO, with a forum dumster fire needed to awaken 'someone'.  The new guy has been ... communicative as, well, a bearer of bad tidings (an interesting greek study).

    It's unfortunate, because good communications translates to 'participation' (aka $$) ... works even with discussion of problems and challenges.

    And poor communications also show up on the Logos.com site ... fragmented discussions, products that are really industry-leading but get the old marketing yawn, and avoidance of efficient customer shopping.

    I don't know if remembered, but mobile layouts were introduced like a thief in the night. Oh.

    This sounds more like my suggestion of "projects."

    is this change going to be update ever? why take away the function at all when you could simply add an option to sync other devices or not. The sync feature was one of the best functions I have used for many years. Now it’s just a daily frustration.
