Logos 10 Crashing on Tablet

The other day I reported the problem of Logos 10 crashing on my cell phone when wifi service is spotty.

Now my new tablet has updated to Logos 10 and it will not stay open when wifi is good. It only works when wifi is turned off or in airplane mode. The tablet is a Samsung Tab S7 FE running Android 11.

Is there any way to revert to Logos 9 on my devices until this problem is fixed?

Fortunately my old tablet hasn't updated yet and still runs Logos 9.

If you know how to sideload programs on your Android device you can download the version 9 apk file here and do that https://m.apkpure.com/logos-bible-study-app/com.logos.androidlogos

This should be fine with Faithflife as they have a link to this source here https://wiki.logos.com/Old_app_versions_for_Android

This should be fixed in the latest update that will get released shortly. I will let you know when the update is available to download.

Any word Ali? My cell phone locks up when I try to run Logos 10 on it. With 9 this was not a problem, but with 10 I am seeing a "Close App - not working" about 50% of the time.

BTW, is there a "recommended specifications for a tablet" to run Logos 10 on? I currently run Logos 10 on my desktop (with no problems at all) and my cell phone (with the noted problem) and am thinking about switching to a tablet and then using the phone for what it was intended. Before I buy a tablet, though, I thought it might be a good idea to find out what the optimum configuration would be and recommendations.

    Thanks,

    Don

    Hi Don,

We do not specifically endorse certain devices as "optimum" for our apps.

However, the minimum version of Android supported is Android 7.1 (how to check for this), the minimum version of iOS or iPadOS is 14.1 (how to check for this), and the minimum version of FireOS (for the Kindle Fire) is 6.0 (how to check for latest update).

Generally speaking, you can expect better performance in the more recent versions of your operating system.  So you want to be sure that your device is running the most recent version available for it.

We are planning a number of significant improvements in our next major update (version 10.1).

If you are having problems with our app, even though your operating system is supported and you are running the latest version available for your device, you may want to install our Beta version.  Our Beta version already has many of the fixes we will release with the 10.1 update.  Unfortunately there is no Kindle Beta, but the Android Beta is available here, and the iOS Beta here

Hi Don, what version of the app are you running? To find this out:

    1. Click on the More menu (three horizontal lines in bottom right corner)

    2. Scroll down and click on "Help"

    3. See version number.

The latest version of the Android app is 10.0.4. For iOS, it is 10.0.3. If you are not on the latest version, please go to the app store to update the app. We have fixed several crash issues in these latest updates and will be shipping a new version in just a few short weeks.

Please let me know if you still see the issue with the latest update.

Thank you Joe. There should be no problem as far as the OS.

However, to be more specific on my original question, I would like to know the minimums such as RAM, Storage, CPU speed, etc. (32Gb RAM vs. 128Gb, 1Tb HD vs. 256Gb., etc.)

I build my own desktops and want to get a tablet that I won't have to replace several times before I upgrade my desktop again. My last build lasted about 10 years (I tend to get more than I need so that I am not upgrading all the time.)

Anyway, any thoughts on the above (or other components) you would recommend?

    Thank you,

    Don

    Ali,

    Thank you.

Before I finished looking it up, I realized the problem. I have a cell phone that charges super fast, battery lasts a long time and my prime use is to make telephone calls/occasional search engine use. All of these work fine. But, there appears to be a rather large canyon between Android 7 and Android 7.1 (from another Logos post) when it comes to Logos.

Results: I am running Logos 9.9.1 Build 909010562

On a Motorola (yes, a real Motorola, not Lenovo) Droid Turbo 2 with Android 7.

I'm sure you see what I do...these won't work well together, if at all.

So, I will hang on until my tablet arrives and then only use my phone for making calls and the problem will be solved.

Thank you for your super speedy reply,

    Don
