Add to Library - observations and some out-of-the-box ideas

So, I have been playing around a bit with this feature and find it to be interesting.  But I wonder if this idea of just adding my own books; paper or e-books, outside of my Logos library to "Print Library" is too limiting of a concept for this feature.

I see that I can search the entire Logos resource offering and simply add a book that isn't in my library.  There isn't any way to say that I own a copy of the book.  For example I added one from my wish list.  I assume one could if one wanted, add all of the 50,000+ books in the catalog and search within them for matches as well as preview them.  Obviously I could only see the snippets.

A few observations, probably some of these have been posted:

1.  The preview text appears to be only available when online. But it is much easier to read than the text on the web page for a given book.

2.  The search is performed online.

3.  The search results are not displayed in order as found in the book but it appears to be by number of hits in a section.  Would be useful to have an option for sorting.

4.  There doesn’t seem to be a convenient way to remove these from your library. It was posted recently that you could use the Tile View and you will have an icon to remove the resource.  I tag all my resources so I have a tag called “AddToLibrary” to filter these.

Here are some ways you could you use this feature, knowing that you get a sample of the book as well as being able to search a resource:

  1.  Obviously, add your print  and e-book library.
  2. Add books from your wish lists.
  3. Add books that might complete a set that you have to see what you might be missing.
  4. Add books in a library package that you don’t have, to see if those books have something in it you might find useful.
  5. Add books by your favorite author that you don’t have and sample these.

Can you think of some other ways to use this?

I would think that this is quite the way to build up sales as one gets to sample the book beyond just the preview pages and the “Quick Buy” button is right there in front of you.  Maybe FL could add a button on the resource web page that is “Add to Print Library” like adding to your Wishlist.

Add books from your wish list. Add books that might complete a set that you have to see what you might be missing.

Good idea. This morning I was looking at barely-started commentaries, and whether to pursue expanding them.  I scrounged around in each, with no real conclusion.  Popping up in searches would be a good idea.  Granted not so easy at the moment.
