Change to resource selection to Books Search in L10.1 beta 1

In V/L10.0 the books search had the option to select resources on the right of the panel

In L10.1 beta 1, this has been moved to the left (similar to selection in the Bible Search)

Is this intentional? I didn't see any mention of it in the release notes.

Wow, I hadn't spotted that. It comes with the (somewhat strange) ability to somehow section-restrict the book search on whatever it is they offer over 300 of - datatypes? "Augustine" here is a datatype only working in two missals - and the PrintLibrary disregarding anything (obviously following Factbook here).

Two things:

I suspect that the datatype is a bit more specific (see 2nd shot below)
person:Jesus requires that the resource be tagged. In this case it would have to be user added Factbook tags.

One of these is a Lectionary, not a Missal. Not that that changes your essential point.

The "datatype" here is actually the entry in the Catholic Liturgical Calendar for the the feast day of St. Augustine. Try typing in "Ordinary Time" or "Ordinary Time 2" and looking at the dropdown for a comparison. This is actually a very powerful feature!

PrintLibrary disregarding anything (obviously following Factbook here).

As do Cloud Books and Bookstore.

Your screenshots only show narrowing the resource range (by using a dynamic filter on author:Augustine), not restricting the search range by data type reference.

I think that a lot of confusion has already been caused by "Augustine, Works of" neither being obviously a single item in the drop down's comma-delineated list of examples, nor being something that actually gets you anywhere when you type it in. What those items in the list mean is not what they appear to the user to mean. The "common sense" user expectation is that the list consists of examples that the user can type in in order to get meaningful results. That is not even remotely the case, at least with the examples (such as "Augustine" and "Papal Encyclicals") provided by Verbum.

Then what does the "Augustine, Confessions 4" in the second screen shot do if it doesn't restrict the search to Book 4?

MJ, it looks to me like you have match case turned on, which is preventing the search from getting a match on "Laugh".

It does restrict to that reference range.

There are plans to continue working on the Search panel. I don't know what all kinds of changes might end up happening.
