Search result problems

Hi, I have contacted support two weeks ago but, getting no reply, so hope someone can help here.

I did a search for psalm 1 in entire library ( I am still getting around the software) and in my search results were loads of entries for Catholic Daily readings.

I am of the reformed faith so I'm not interested in these, but on clicking it it said resource is not in my library,

So when I got home I opened the desktop app and typed in Catholic Daily readings under my library and I did not have that book.

I have just opened the web software, looked for it under store and it says I own it, tried to open it and there it opens up as being owned by me.

So I am baffled.

How do I resolve this

Just to get the ball rolling, are you on Logos (very likely), or Verbum? Version 9 or version 10?

Welcome to the forums. Are you running on the desktop, web or a mobile version? PC or Apple? purchased or a Connect subscription? What type of search are you running? If you run your search as a Book search, does Catholic Daily Readings appear in the downloaded or Cloud section? Sorry to pepper you with questions but the answer to each question narrows down the possible sources of your problem.

I have looked in all three as I wrote above. it is android mobile and windows pc.

The search is in the panel where you read the bible, or put in bible ch/ver and it goes there.

If i go to library on the mobile and search, it comes up not in my library.

If i search on windows app it isnt there.

If i search on web, it is there.

The problem is not that I cant find it, the problem is I dont want its search results to appear,

I had this problem with search results over a month ago and was told to go to the windows app, search for the books you dont want to appear and click in an area that allowed me to remove them from the search, you can only do this in the windows app. But in there this book is not lin my library, so I cant remove it from my results.

You do have the resource as part of the resources included in the feature set. It is a lectionary i.e. Catholic Daily Readings. Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2009. There is a similar resource with the US modifications. You should also have results from other lectionaries -- Anglican, Episcopal, Orthodox, Lutheran, Revised Common Lectionary . . . You may have left the resource in the Cloud or you may have hidden it. If it is hidden it is a bug that it is showing; if it is in the Cloud, it should be in the cloud section of a book search.

This makes no sense to me as a resource panel has only a Find or an Inline search which would not bring up resources other than what was open in the panel. Could you include a screenshot using the paperclip to load it into your post?

This is the book that is coming up in my results. Catholic Daily Readings by United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

Ah, I thought it was under something else. Yes in the web library I see a load of them there including the one above.

Unfortunately im in work at the minute, so can not get access to the windows app to see if I can see if it is in there and then try to cancel its appearing in the search results.

I know searching the entire library is not a good way to search, but Im still just getting around the software, and at the top of the results you get pages and pages of lectionary entries.

Ok I will have to wait until I get home to check that out, Perhaps that will allow me to cancel it out.

If I do the same search on the web I gives me 16 results in my library.

Just seen that in my windows app I have 1856 items in my library.

In the web software I have 2033 items

Just to check - you were entering lectionaries in the library find field and got no results

Please post a screenshot of your library when trying to do this (use the paperclip icon in the forum editor)

Yes Im putting lectionary into the library search on the web and in the windows app and getting 16 on the web and 0 in app.

Also included showing total in my library on web and on app which is around 200 less in app library that on web

Do those lectionaries show up at the very bottom of your Program Settings in the section for Hidden Resources?

I have checked it and there is nothing at the bottom for hidden resources, or anywhere else in the library.

Hi Andrew, I recalled putting some in hidden area so should have been some there. But found hidden resources under program settings and all the missing books in the app were there.

I believe, though haven't checked recently, that hiding resources on the desktop does not affect whether they are visible on mobile or not.

I just put whatever I didn't want to see, use, wish there were not in my library into the hidden resource, did a search on the windows app and they didn't show up, as you would expect as you don't want to have them. I then did a search on the mobile app and they appear in the search results.

I don't get why they do that. It's placed in the hidden resource for a very good reason. So why have them appear in the mobile app.

Some of us can't get the time to use the windows app and find ourselves doing all our reading and studying as far as we can in the move, or at work on a break.

Just doesn't make sense to me to have this the way they do.

I agree with you but I don't know if there are any plans for Faithlife to change this.

I would suggest cross-posting in the mobile forum and seeing if one of the mobile developers responds there (they may not see it here)

Is it that hiding a resource is a function specific to the device rather than a general function hiding resources from all devices? In other words, you can have a different set of "hidden resources" on your mobile, your desktop, etc?

Hi, no as far as I know you can only hid resources in the windows app. But it's in the library so you would think it applies to your library synced in all devices

It's currently a known issue that Hidden Resources (set on the desktop application) are not respected by the mobile app (nor the web app IIRC). This is a limitation we hope to fix in the future.

Wow that link is from a post 2 years ago, and it's still an issue.

It's just frustrating for i dint really know all the books I have. And when doing a quick study on the go, it's easy to search entire library and then you have a pick of what has referenced the passage. But to get to most of them you have to scroll page after page after page of lectionary and fault readings in many cases and I just give up then.

It's a pity really. Brilliant software but when it's frustrating it really is lol
