passage list > print/export > includes links for verses

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I'm using the beta. I had 3 passages in a passage list. I tried to print/export > copy to clipboard and got the verses as links. see below. Works the same when using the RTF option. Is there a setting I need to change? I want them to be superscripted numbers.

You would have to do that yourself. Print/Export retains the formatting and gives you live links.

Use the Copy to Clipboard option, paste into Word, and use Word's "Keep Text Only" paste option. Depending on which version of Word you're using, probably a little clipboard icon will appear when you paste, near the end of your pasted text. If you click that icon a menu pops up with three options (this is in Word 2007):

If the default is "Keep Source Formatting" it will preserve the links, as it appears to be doing for you. But if you change it to "Keep Text Only," you will get just the verse numbers, not the links.

You can change what the default for all pastes is under Word Options > Advanced > Cut, copy, and paste:

For this particular operation to work the way you want it to, you'd change the "Pasting from other programs" option to "Keep Text Only." Remember, this is only setting the default. You can always change it for individual exceptions using the popup paste menu as described above.

Is this by design? This does not seem very useful. I can see links working within L4, but what is the point in an export?

Yes, it's by design. You can click on the links in the Word document and it will open Logos to that verse. This is incredibly useful if you're using Word to write a document. Exporting a passage guide report or search results to Word without maintaining the links back to Logos would be a weakness, in my view.

It's also easy enough to remove links from Word if you pasted them in and later decided you didn't want them. Select all the text and press Ctrl+Shift+F9 (Unlink Fields). The formatting indicating links (blue, underlined) will remain, but you can get rid of that too easily enough.

Thanks for the detailed tips. Unfortunately, I have msWord 2003 and I cannot find the equivalent. I did get it to paste into Word in a slightly better way (I had been trying to paste into my RTF outliner/organizer KeyNote before). But 2 passages did not completely paste. see below. Is that normal? If so, that strikes me as about as useless as the hardwired links.

This has nothing to do with copying/pasting. If you look back in Passage List, the text is truncated there, too. Is there some reason why you're not just copying these selections directly from your Bible and pasting into Word? Passage List isn't meant for including long chunks of text. Can you tell me what you're using Passage List for? What is the organizing principle of the texts are you collecting in there, or did you just add some random passage ranges there? Normally a Passage List is generated from search results, and it would just be one verse per entry. Rarely they can be used for longer passages. But long chunks like what you're showing in your screenshot above are probably better collected in a Clippings file, which doesn't have that same length limitation of PLs.

Here's that same example exported (copied) from a Clippings file in Logos and pasted into Word. No hyperlinks (except the name of the Bible). This should make you happy.

Mostly because I cannot get it to copy the passage reference (eg, Romans 3:1-5). Thanks for the advice -- I definitely was using the wrong tool for the job.

You also might want to try Copy Bible Verses (on the Tools menu). This is probably even more the tool that you want. (Unless you want to keep around a Clippings file of the passages you copied.)

1) Select the style.

2) Select the Bible version

3) Select where you want to paste the text

The preview window will show what it's going to look like.

For step 1, here's what the styles dropdown looks like. You probably want Fully Formatted as your style, though several of the others styles include the full passage reference too:
