What method does Logos use to look-up Greek?

I am trying to understand if getting additional books will add to the value of Logos Look-up when looking up Greek (or Hebrew) words. 

As a real-life example, I have the standard Gold package for Logos 9, and I use NA28 for the Greek.   When I look up a word using the quick look-up function, will I benefit from having a bigger library? 

I am lost on how this functions, but plan to upgrade to Logos 10 very soon.  While a bigger library is always beneficial, it is also expensive.  Is getting an academic package (and the larger Greek library that goes with it) help at all with the search provided by Logos?  

A breakdown of my question:

Does the word search use my library as the basis for the word search (such as the Septuagint which I do not think I own)? 

Or

Is the word search from Logos independent of my library?

If the word search is dependent upon my library, how helpful is an extensive library for a beginner Greek student? If it is helpful to an advanced student, but not a beginner, I can pick up the latest and greatest in the next round of Logos updates (Logos11).

Your questions are pretty free-ranging.

But top-level:

- As a beginning greek student, what you have will likely be all you need.  You might want some specific books that you want help in.

- If you plan to 'proceed' forth ... ministry, etc ... you'll want BDAG.  I don't know if it's in Gold, so.  But lexicons beyond BDAG simply get a little more specific.  Some concentrate during the LXX, others during the fathers, some theological development, and so on. 

- In general, Logos looks up greek words, depending on their form, and depending how you prioritized your greek lexicons in your library.  You have NA28, which includes lemmas (the little popups).  That means Logos can look up a right-clicked word, in your lexicons (right-click menu, little boxes on the lower right).  Similarly it can do Word Studies (right-click menu, top-right)

- For greek words without an associated lemma (typically journals, monographs, and so forth) an analytical lexicon may be needed (if you don't know the word form)

Someone else may need to comment on what shows up, from the Logos store.  I've never tried it.

Extra:

You mention upgrading to L10 and it being expensive.  But remember your L9 works just fine, and will for a few years.  And the free L10 is typically shipped in late Feb after the rollout year (or Feb 2023).  Additionally, upgrading is only if you NEED it.  It's not required by Faithlife.  So, carefully review what will help you.
