Searching a Bible reference in a book. What am I doing wrong?
I'm searching for bible:"Genesis 1:1" in Calvin's Institutes. I clearly see in the Scripture Index a hyperlinked "1:1" and if I hover over it I can see that it is a Bible reference to Genesis 1:1. So, why doesn't my search find it? What obvious thing am I missing? I just rebuilt my index and that didn't help. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I don't believe you are doing anything wrong.
But I don't think the contents of resource indices are indexed by Logos - hence it doesn't appear in your search results

What!! You are probably correct, and this is not directed at you, but why would they not index the index?? It is part of the resource, after all...
I had this grand plan to highlight all the scripture indexes of systematic theologies and other multi-volume works with a specific highlight style (confusingly named Index, to add to all the other Indexes mentioned!), and then search where bible:"Genesis 1:1" INTERSECTS highlight:Index so it could automatically search the indices rather than me having to manually open each resource and scrolling to the right place and seeing if there happened to be a match.
This is disappointing news. I hope someone is listening and might want to fix it!

Typically indexes aren't indexed because they are just a list of content that is elsewhere in the book with a link to that location, and this is redundant with being able to search the book. Indexing it would result in two search hits which effectively just lead to the same location.
That said, it appears that these indexes actually add references that aren't explicitly mentioned in the text, so there seems to be some actual added value to allowing these to be search. I've passed this on to our book editing team for their consideration.

Thanks for listening, regardless of what you decide.
I will only add that there are often many more Bible references in the work, but the indices often limit themselves to places where there is significant discussion about a particular text. Hence, why I wanted to search just the scripture indices, and not the rest of the book.

I saw that yesterday (another book). I thought it was pretty bazarre. It'd make sense if Logos own indexing picked up the references. But they don't, reliably.0
