If you could persuade the Logos developers to fix one bug, what would it be?

The error that causes the wrong icon/label to show on factbook entries e.g. pseudepigraphic works showing as topic rather than writing. It often makes it impossible to tell if the entry exists e.g. where a noun might be a person's name or the name of a work.

The size of the Hebrew font being absurdly large in QSM and Targum resources mentioned here and here. The size should match that of LHB.

I doubt I could persuade the developers to fix anything (not being sarcastic).  The bugs I run into are just 'fluky', from day to day.

Tonight's bug is hard-pressing a word (Mac M1 Ventura; trackpad), pulling up the small menu, selecting 'Lookup', and locking up the program (hard stop needed).  That's with the macOS force-click turned off.  Testing, any selection from the small menu locks the program.

Before that was another strangeness. Single (light) clicking a word highlights it with the menu.  But random words; and repeatable (eg clicking on the same word later again highlights it w/menu.  I thought for a while it seemed to correlate with topics (though the monograph is untagged).  Workaround was to turn off select by word.  Smart-select doesn't cause the same random behavior.

Another bug yesterday was the speaker menu showing up, or not, after the Cmd-R starts.  Appears to be related to multiple windows in use; I didn't pursue ... the speaker is awful.

An earlier bug which I'm careful to avoid, is in 'right-clicking' the movable menu (top/left).  It's touch and go (random, though I haven't seen the search icon to be right-clickable for a while ... opening as a window demands dragging, and then right-clicking the tab.  But some combinations completely disable my large layout ... can't reload, nor reload earlier versions.  Workaround, is restart, load a small layout, close it, and re-start.  That appears to clear the issue (the layout is fine).   After several times, I learned ... don't trust right-clicking the top/left menus ... problems.

    And on it goes.

I'm completely confident, there'd be a host of Logosians with 'not me' ... 'not me'.  Which is fine.  I'm just waiting (how many weeks??) for 10.1.  I'm certainly not going to do a re-install.  Nor the craziness of the FL log procedure for Macs.

The bug of not having my concept of "projects." Users should be able to have resources sync across devices of all kinds, automatically, tied to whatever project they are working on.

    OK, I cheated. Sorry.

Not a bug but my most-frequent complaint: lack of usability and lack of GUI consistency: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/197602.aspx?PageIndex=1

The recently introduced "bug" of letting a Bible Search reference query access translators notes (as well as cross references).

My Analysis view "Hang" can repeat when least expected and entails manually aborting the app, restarting and then reloading my layout!

I am frustrated daily by the lack of the scroll bar in longer footnote text boxes. Others here kindly suggested a temporary workaround that helps for numbered footnotes but does not work for notes designated by an asterisk, a feature found frequently in the George N. H. Peters three volumes on the Theocratic Kingdom which I am currently reading and studying.

This issue needs to be fixed correctly so that all footnotes (numbered and otherwise designated) can be fully read!

In the Android mobile app, swipe to highlight has never worked properly. You can swipe to highlight, but if you highlight too much, you can't just unhighlight that part by moving your finger back. You have to delete the highlight and try again.

I guess you could call it projects but I would be happy if I could share selected layouts across platforms. that way nothing new to learn just an added option on the layout screen "update, rename, delete, share" The update and delete would only work local, just like they do today. Say I'm working on my ipad and when finished, I "update" it and then "share" it. I'm sync'd.

Yeah, I found taking notes on mobile takes multiple steps now.

    1. select the text

    2. click the highlighted text

    3. select note

    4. click "done"

Once I figured it out I quit losing notes.

Many thanks to Faithlife for correcting this problem! The scroll bar is back and is working in all the resources I am reading, including both numbered and asterisked footnotes in Peters Theocratic Kingdom.

Yes, it is difficult to choose. There are so many, and they appear so suddenly. For example:

    1. There is one that I had to learn to live with. It was an layout that I created and when I wanted to use it, the program crashed. This since Logos 8. Today with Logos 10, the problem has been solved. As suddenly as it appeared. (Not to mention the hours wasted by phone and remote support and reinstallations as well).

    2. The bug of uncertainty. Parallel resources work when they want to. They have a weird behavoir. Hit enter and occurs nothing. Click enter and things happens.

    3. The mistery of prioritizing. I never know if a resource is prioritized. Or on the contrary, the ones that I do know I have prioritized, do not appear in the reports in my guides.

    5. Absurd tools. Like concordances, you have to rebuild them every time you use them.

A tipic day in Logos! [:D]

I believe that the last 5 you have used are saved. With issues like the layout and the parallel resources, please come to the forums when you have problems -- these are usually fixable. As for Prioritizing, it is problematic.

Indexing that cripples my computer and makes it very slow even with a 1TB HD and 16 GB RAM.  Logos should not interfere with my Laptop’s performance and other programs (Word, PPT, web browsing, etc.).  It also shouldn’t take that long to index a casual update of 40 resources or less. If indexing can be improved, then it should be improved at a top notch level, not just a little bit every 2 years.  I’ll be getting a MacBook Pro soon, but no one should be forced to buy an expensive computer just to run Logos that happens to cripple computers during the indexing process.

My 2 cents 👍😁👌 PS.  I triple, pretty please, dare the developers to really show their true potential and expertise in fixing this or finding a better way. 👏  Come on! You can do this 👏

I enjoyed your 2 cents but prefer my challenge -- come up with a significantly more efficient algorithm and get rich in the process. I know lots of great charities to donate that wealth to. But then, I rarely have the indexing interfere with my work. I've come to the conclusion that some work patterns are barely affected by the indexing; others appear to be severely affected. I'm glad to fall into the former group.

Make sure it has an SSD. A traditional HD, even 1 TB, has severe limitations especially the usual 5400RPM variety.  A 7200 RPM  HD (on a Desktop computer) with 4th Gen Intel was acceptable, but Logos now works better on a small SSD on the SATA interface (not as fast as modern PCIe ones).

Oh yeah! My current laptop was a gift so I gladly accepted it even though it had an HD.  This time around, I’m paying for it, so I’m making sure it has an SSD 👍😁👌
