Use of operators in Factbook Search - and matching criteria

In L10.1 beta 3 I used the search term resurrection AND death in a Factbook search - and some of the results don't contain both words

Are search operators supported in this context?

And, if so, what additional matching criteria is being used so that the entry Resurrection is returned?

I believe this is because FL has decided to support users who don't know what they want at the expense of those who do -- I don't mean that as a negative. It means that the default is expanded to include related concepts that might be what we wanted and that we have to tell it not to expand but to do what we asked. Neither give me what I expect so Dave or Mark need to step in.

Your example of Resurrection includes an "Also" title of "Death and Resurrection". Since the alternate titles are also matched against, it seems that at least that example is correct. Is that the case for the others as well?

I have no explanation for why "resurrection" AND "death" give different results than resurrection AND death. I'll pass that along to the search team.

Oh, I missed the question here. A minimal set of search operators are supported. I think just AND, OR, and NOT.

Now we see the incompatibility between "Normal" Search and "Factbook" Search.

"death" would be an exact match, but not in Factbook search.

It would help if the number of results was stated because the difference between "death" and death is small. But it has a decided effect on "death" AND resurrection vs. death AND resurrection.

I am quickly becoming less than happy with a search that thinks it is smarter than I. It may be but I am more precise in asking for what I need. There is a reason why in L9 I never actually used the "expand" function other than to test for answering forum questions. And I've never been a fan of the search within the Factbook tool. It either looks at the front of a multi-word term or it forgets the front and matches only the back ... Here FL even goes so far as to give me directions to think at a third-grade level. I think the instruction in the red box tells me that they don't want me to find what I want in a short list ... they want to force me to wander through Factbook to find my entry. I have read that this is a tactic used by big box stores such as Costco.
