Needed or Not
My question is that since I am 60nears old and no longer teaching or Pastoring or counseling should I purchase Logos 10. I still do research for others but already have a 10,000 book library with all of the features of Logos 9. Looking for a non commercial response if possible.
Thanks Grace and peace be upon you and your families.

should I purchase Logos 10.
If the resources that you have are adequate for your purposes and you do not NEED the improvements that Logos 10 brings then you there is no reason that you 'should purchase (a package that that brings) Logos 10 along with it.
Many folk that have purchased resources so that the update to Logos 10 can be obtained do so because they WANT Logos 10 not because they NEED it.
If you decide not to buy more resources in order to get Logos 10 now you will most likely be able to upgrade for free in two or three months time.

I've found skipping Logos upgrades is peaceful (no cutesy changes to the UI and so forth). I should have skipped this one, and stuck with Logos 9. But I have a Mac, and L10 promised unbelievable speed (and delivered indeed).
But that said, you do research for others. I'd assume (guessing for sure) that you're a treasure to them. I know, at church, someone that always knows 'where' is very much valued.
The various tagging improvements would assist both you and them? That seems to be the big value in the upgrades (data sets, more resources being tagged, etc).

I purchased L10 for a couple of reasons....
1. I wanted a better Search than was in L9... L10 Search is much better than L9.
2. I wanted better overall speed than L9... I even updated my computer to gain more speed.... and L10 speed is definitely an improvement over L9.
3. I wanted to be able to "stop Factbook from opening every time I thought about doing something" .... This one was only a very slight improvement over L9...
4. There are other "little things" that was improved in L10.... but after the first 3... I'm happy I bought L10...it just feels better and more solid than L9 felt for me.

You could also just upgrade (if you chose to) just the feature set without adding resources...
I have a rather meager library that is customized to my needs/desires. But I have stayed up to date with feature sets as I've found many/most of them to be useful. As someone else mentioned, I believe the base program engine will be available in a few months without cost.

I think L10 is one of the better updates especially for speed and improve ease of searching. Since you do not need (want) more books you can review the feature updates for one that has what you may use or just wait until the free upgrade (without many of the new features) drops.
I would not say you "need" to upgrade, but there, in my opinion, is good reason to "want" to upgrade.

I would suggest that you install the free upgrade once it becomes available, because at some point they will stop supporting version 9 - and in the meantime, most of their time and attention will inevitably be focused on the most current version.

I echo people's suggestion to just wait for the free version early next year. If you're happy with your library and features, you can get a lot of the benefits of Logos 10 for free if you're willing to wait. The benefits would be faster interface and indexing, and continued support as they will stop supporting Logos 9.
