If you are using Logos 10 on a Tablet, please give me some insight.
I currently have Logos 10 on a desktop and smartphone. Lately the phone application will start only 30% of the time.It is because the phone is Android 7.
I want to take Logos with me, but don't want the bulk of a laptop. My phone has served me well, but frankly I would like a bit larger screen and the phone will soon be non-functional.
My problem is, having never used a tablet for this kind of program, I need insight into what type of tablet to purchase and my only requirement is it must not be Apple (compatibility issues).
So, how large of a hard drive is required to install Logos?
How much RAM or CPU does it take to allow Logos to function smoothly?
Are there any things that need to be on the tablet for Logos to function properly?
Which brings me to my main question: What are the items (in you opinion) to look for when purchasing a tablet for Logos 10 mobile?

I hope this doesn't sound as rude as it probably will but, since you're only now updating an Android 7 phone (presumably more than 7 years old), I would say that you might be comfortable with a bit of an older device or non "pro" device. If you don't want to replace your phone, and it's working for the other things you need it for, you may want to consider a Kindle. They have ones that are larger screens (10 in) 2021 Black Fire HD 10 Tablet, 1080p Display & 32 GB | Amazon, right now on sale for $75, and you can buy keyboards/mice (I think, not sure about the mouse part) for them to make them fairly decent devices. I've used the webapp and the android app on my Kindle (probably about 4 years old) with no problems.
Let me know if you have any more questions. I admire your ability to use a device without feeling the need to upgrade every year, many of us could learn well from that. Hope this helps a bit!0 -
I don't quite understand the question.
- A Logos mobile on an Android phone is the same as a Logos mobile on an Android tablet (more real estate and layout capability; same memory footprint). Little difference.
- But if we're talking 'Logos' on a tablet type device, then it'd be something like an MS Surface?

Hi Don,
Here is the comparison of what you can do with a full Windows tablet (like a Surface), an Android tablet, and app.logos.com: https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009134151-Logos-Bible-Software-Platform-Comparison
Basically, the mobile app will run on any modern tablet, so if your phone does everything you need, then just set your budget based on things like battery life and the rest will take care of itself. But if you are looking for specific recommendations:
Full Logos in a tablet: an adequate Surface Pro will set you back about $800 right now.
Android tablet: A Samsung Tab A8 is usually $280 but is $100 off for Cyber Monday. A 10.8" screen is good for a reader and searchuing. If you are content with the web app and the Android app, this is a great value.

For clarification: compatibility with what?

I use a Surface Pro tablet and run Logos as if I am using a desktop. It is the best way to have logos on a tablet with full functionality.

Thank you Frank. While I am not familiar with what would be considered a "pro" device, my choice in cell phones stems from durability, charge time and reliability. I still consider my cell phone a "telephone" more than anything else. When the communications start to fail, that is when I would normally replace it.
As for the tablet, it is interesting that two people have now suggested this device. My only concern with the Fire 10 is how long it will be before Logos doesn't function on it (for whatever reason). Given the price, I like the idea. I will let you know what I decide. Thank you again.

Thank you Justin. That is exactly what I wanted. I just need to know the parameters and I can figure it out from there. I was having trouble finding them, however. Thank you again.

Thank you JT. The problem was solved and I will find what I need soon. The "compatibility" problem is between Apple and Me. It is easier to write that than explaining my long-term experience with Apple.
