Question: Is this help article accurate for Logos 10?

In the help article Select which resources to download, it says the following regarding removing resources and reclaiming hard drive space from the index:

Is this still accurate for Logos 10? It seems to be removing the resource from the downloaded index and listing it as in cloud resources automatically now. Am I correct in this? When I run a search after removing a resource I already see the resource showing in Cloud resources instead of downloaded without having to run "Rebuild Index". I'm just trying to confirm how this works in Logos 10.

    Yes, this is still accurate.

It seems to be removing the resource from the downloaded index

And index is not downloaded. An index is generated from downloaded resources and is used to search the search. It's a large file on your hard drive. When a resource is removed, the information for it is not removed from your index index. You can choose to reclaim a bit of disk space by rebuilding your entire index, which will use only the currently downloaded resources.

But there has been a change in how the resources show in Search from L9 to L10, correct? I remember the resources still showing as downloaded until I ran the rebuild index command in L9. Now they are showing as cloud in Search without me having to do that.

I don't know about the L9 behavior. If it was like that, then it was a bug. The rebuild index command was recommended not as a way to stop resources from being searched, but only as a way to reclaim a bit more disk space.

The biggest delay for both L9/L10 is getting resources to show as Not on this Device after Removing them. A restart is often necessary in L10, but I could just reload Library in L9. Perhaps you chose rebuild for that to happen.

I think all this likely does is make something happen to keep your attention while you wait for what otherwise will just happen normally.

I'm not aware of a problem with requiring a restart before removed resource show up as such. That sounds like a significant bug. Any change you can start a new thread and include a screen capture and log of this behavior?

Changing or adding/removing a tag on the resource usually forces the library to update after you remove a resource. When I remove a resource I delete the 'device' tag and add the 'cloud' tag. That triggers the library to refresh and register it as "Not on the Device".

EDIT: Sorry, I started this post first!

I have Library as a tab in my layout, and I want to remove Brenton LXX.

The sidebar selection Devices > Not on this device shows and displays 3 resources.

    .

    1. Start by displaying Brenton LXX:

    image

    2. Right-click and select Remove from this device.

    .

    3. After removing the Find: command:

    image

Not on this device should show 4.

    .

    4. Opened and closed the sidebar a few times (still showing 3 as Not on this device), then filtered for brenton-lxx:

    image

    5. Remove the filter and only 3 resources are shown after selecting Devices > Not on this device (3).

    6. Closing and re-opening the Library tab does not affect the status.

    7. Brenton LXX still shows in my Collection of English LXX bibles.

    4118.Remove BrentonLXX.zip

    8. I give up and restart Verbum.

It no longer appears in my Collection.
