Using Topic Guide to explore prayer in ANE Culture

One of the assignments on my Faith Life Course says "use the Topic Guide to explore other aspects of prayer that are prevalent in the surrounding ancient Near Eastern culture"

Would the Topic Guide be the best tool to explore prayer in the ancient Near East Culture or would you recommend a specific search on Prayer NEAR ancient Near East??

Well, you could create a collection for all your resources on Ancient Near East culture, then do a Topic Guide on "Prayer" and set the Collections section to that ANE collection:

I have a rudimentary ANE Studies collection starting with the rule (("ancient near" OR "near east" OR "northwest semitic" OR title:(babylon,canaan,assyria,ugarit,coptic,akkadian,"ras shamra")) ANDNOT type:(commentary,media) ANDNOT mytag:"bible guides" ANDNOT "Critical Review" ANDNOT subject:"Bible--Language")

You'd have to play around with it a bit depending on what you've got in your library.

Actually, I'd open Factbook to "Prayer", and look for the "Cultural Concepts" section. In there, I'd hope to find some volumes with ancient near-eastern material listed.
