Coloured short cuts

Is there a way to colour your shortcuts on the shortcut bar? So for example, if I have a shortcut with the name, ESV Study B, can I colour it AND still keep the name ESV Study B? And with other shortcuts, can I still keep the name but in a different colour?

Right click on the icon - you can set the text that shows and select from a set of icons ... scroll down to the colored ones.

But the actual words on the short cut bar do not change colours. Or am I not getting it?

Aha, I misread your question which was about font color; I was think color of the shortcut. I know of no way to change the font color.
