Bug: Personal Books Not Syncing

I built two personal books today. I built them on my Mac.

Once they were built, I uploaded them to the Logos servers in order for them to download onto my Windows laptop.

On my Windows laptop, the books will not download. I immediately went back to my Mac to ensure that I uploaded them. When I tried to upload them again, I get the messages saying that the books have already been uploaded.

I have confirmed that I have uploaded them but they still will not download to my laptop. If I go to the personal book builder in my laptop, it says "File not Found".

Any ideas?

Do you see the Personal Book in your Logos library on your Windows laptop?

The file not found message is to be expected if you tried to build the resource in the PB tool and you don't have the source files on your Windows laptop.

Did you try the Open option in the tool?

    Hi Graham,

Thanks for the response. The personal books do not show in my library on the Windows laptop but they do show on the Mac (the computer I originally built them on). I have also tried the command “Update Resources”.

The source files are stored in my OneDrive so they automatically sync between the computers.

Edit: I was under the impression that if I uploaded them to Logos’ servers, they would automatically download to my other computers without having to rebuild them. Is this not correct?

This is irrelevant unless you are wanting to rebuild the books on the other device. Once the book is compiled, FL doesn't need or use the source material.

If you upload a compiled book, it should be availble on your other device (with defualt settings). Have you tried the command update now? Have you restarted your app afterwards?

Correct. I just mentioned this because Graham commented about the files not being on the computer.

Yes, I mentioned that one post above. [:)]

Have you restarted your app afterwards?

Yes, numerous times, along with the computer.

I just tried hiding/deleting everything and rebuilding from my Windows laptop. Same results.

Does that mean that you can now see the PBB resources on the Windows laptop where before (when you built them on your Mac) you could only see them on the MAC?

[Personally I do not use the upload option for PBB but copy them from machine to machine on a flash drive and the SCAN command.]

Was "hiding/deleting everything" done on Mac and you tried rebuilding on Windows? Did you delete all PB's from the Personal Books tool and hide what was left in Library?

    What is your current status?

On my computers since 20 December also no more syncronisation takes place. I have already written an email to customer service, and hope to get an answer in the new year.

Yes. Once I deleted everything off of my Mac desktop, I then went to my laptop and tried to create the personal books there. They compiled fine and opened on the laptop. I then uploaded them and checked on my desktop. The desktop showed that the file was missing.

    Thank you.

Yes sir. I hid/deleted everything off of the Mac before trying to rebuild them on the Windows laptop. Once I rebuilt them on the Windows laptop, I could see the books on the laptop. I then uploaded them to Logos and checked the desktop (Mac) and the desktop said that I didn't have a license to view the book and the Book Builder Tool said that the file was missing.

Edit: For clarification, when I said that the desktop displayed that I did not have a license to view the book, I was not accessing the book from the library (it never showed there). It was only showing in the Personal Books tool.

    What is your current status?

I hid/deleted the personal books off of both computers. I understand that I could do as David Ames said and just build the books on each computer. I also have a personal computer at work and I am the kind of person that if it isn't working, I'd rather not use the tool.

Thank you for confirming Thomas. I'm glad that it isn't just me.

I can confirm that the download of Uploaded PB's is not working in Windows.

Thank you Dave! Since you, myself and Thomas are having the same issue, I guess it truly is a bug. Maybe they will fix it for us some time.

I created a bug report in Desktop Beta forum and referred to this thread (I'm using a beta version).

Once again, thank you. I was worried that Faithlife might not see this thread since it was a weekend and a holiday. Having it in the Beta forum will increase the chances of it being seen and the problem fixed.

We've identified the problem and deployed a fix. Most pending uploads should now be processed, but go ahead and re-upload if any are still not syncing properly.

    Thanks for your report!

Thank you John. It now works. Thanks to all who helped with this. It was fixed much quicker than I expected.
