BUG: Android Library Search Results

Today in this thread I asked why my library search results were inconsistent across the desktop, web, iOS and Android apps.

I am filing a bug report now because the Android results are way off.

Examples:

Search term "Justification" (without quotes):

  • Desktop app: 167 resources
  • Web app: 166 resources
  • IOS app: 167 resources
  • Android app: 28 resources

Search term "Redemption" (without quotes):

  • Desktop app: 178 resources
  • Web app: 171 resources
  • IOS app: 178 resources
  • Android app: 19 resources

The search which started this: "Biblical Theology" (without quotes):

  • Desktop app: 883 resources
  • Web app: 448 resources
  • iOS app: 881 resources
  • Android app: 70

My concern is with the Android app specifically. It seems the other apps are in the ballpark of search results returned (although I don't understand why the web app had over 400 fewer results than the desktop app in the last search).

Hi Bill, thank you for the detailed description. We are investigating this issue. I will reach back out when I have an update. Thank you!

I'm bumping this because I just reran the searches of the terms on Android with no improvement in results.

I have had a long (very long, in fact) critique about the way the Android app is so far off in returning library results. I can not only confirm equally weird results (for example, redemption gives me 9 in Android and 102 on the desktop when I exclude personal books), but I have just learned not to trust any of the library's results. After years of grappling with this, it would be great to see it fixed.

After the team looked more into this issue, we've realized that this fix will involve a lot more investigation and time. We have a case open to improve this experience.
