Indexing

Last night my Logos 4 (computer is Vista) started indexing and this morning it said it still needed 16 hours. As I worked on the ocmputer for other things it froze up so I had to shut the computer down and on again. The indexing began all voer again and has been running since about 9am. It said there was 4 hours left about 4pm. Now at 8pm, it says 7 hours left. Is this for real? It ran all night (about 14 hours and said 16 hours left). Since I had to turn it off and start over, do I have to expect it to take more than 30 hours to really index. I'm very perplexed. Pausing won't be of much help in this case because it will take a week or more.

Any suggestions.

Could you please share some of your computer hardware specs? Also I assume this is 32 bit Vista?

Some computers, depending on chip speed (and internet connections?) have taken along time indexing.

Indexing can take a very long time, especially if you computer is just at the minimum specs as your computer seems to be ( http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq#sysreqs ). The only thing you can do is let it run with as few programs open as possible until it finishes.

Thanks. I've kept the PC almost totally free of anything else all day. I do now have an open case at Logos because a lady there said this is way too long, but can't talk with them til tomorrow. Will see what they say then. By then (if it goes as it seems now) it will still be indexing and will be over 24 hours. Still seems like too long. I have a laptop that is 4GB (RAM), Windows 7, and 2.26 GHz and Logos indexed fine on it. I guess I thought that once it was indexed on one, it would just be the same on the other, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

You're right, 24 hours is too long of a time. Most people should be able to do it while they sleep.
