I may get a "post to uservoice" from this one, and that would be fair
enough. Personally I think they have enough to keep them busy but if
enough people say this would be a good thing I'll post it to uservoice.
I would love to be able to do the following with guides. This is how I
envision things.
I would create a custom guide with two sections. One would be a
section for resources I personally added. That way when I'm reading a
book and someone makes a really good point about a verse I could add it
to a list, along with a not for that specific resource.
The second section would be simply a note section (another Guide
feature I would enjoy). Here I would keep personal notes about that
section.
To make all this work well I would propose adding another option to
the trinicle menu (my new name for the three (trinity) circles). It
would be a "Notate verses with guides" option. The verse
number/reference for a verse would be highlighted in such a way as to
indicate that there is a saved guide made for it. Preferably we would be
able to check the guide templates we wanted included in the
highlighting. If you really want to make me happy have it highlight
words that have a saved Word Study Guide to it. From there it would work
one of two ways. Either 1)have a hover pop-up that would list the
guides available for the verse or 2)add an option to the right side of
the right click menu for Guides, right under the "reference" option that
would list the available guides on the left side. You could also add a
section for guides to the "reference" menu.
Personally, I think this would be a huge thing for me. I would
personally prefer this over notes. I could add multiple "note" sections
to the guide. Assuming you could title the section I could add an
Outline Note section, a background note section, etc. Linking to open
resource locations would also be critical. If I am reading along in a
book and they quote a reference and make a good point about it I would
right click on the reference in that resource and see a list of all my
saved guides for that reference. If the guide I want isn't available I
could create it easily through the options already available in the
reference menu. I could then add a link to the current resource to the
guide, make a quick note about how it applies the verse, and keep on
reading. Later when reading through the Bible I notice that I have
created a guide for the verse and all that great information is easily
seen through a simple right click/select.
Well, it works out in my mind, anyway :-)
EDIT: Sorry for posting this in the wrong forum. It should have gone in the "Suggestions" Forum.
