Statement from Mike Heiser

Saw this just now on FB from Mike Heiser's page. So sad. He made the Bible alive to me in a way different than others. I know some didn't always agree with his conclusions, but one thing is sure: I will miss him and his teaching. While listening to a podcast before podcast were ever even a think around the mid 2000s around 2004 or so, I heard him as a guest on a show. I never got to meet him in person, but we did exchange an email a few times and I got an email from him after I sent him a letter a few weeks ago. Lord Jesus, thank you for those who speak in a way that the common people can understand.
Dear friends and ministry colleaguesI wanted to post a short summary of where my cancer diagnosis has brought me. The short version is that I am at the end of the road in the late stage (4) of a very aggressive pancreatic cancer. Nothing to date has reversed the tumor’s status. It has now invaded the upper GI and stomach areas causing slow, uncontrollable bleeding. No one on my medical team has a solution or knows of one. During the latest endoscopy an effort was made to cauterize as many of the bleeding points as possible to at least slow the bleeding. In essence, I am bleeding out at a slow rate with no solution. I am presently not in pain, but am very week, a condition that will worsen until I am gone. Since there are no further treatment options available to us, we have chosen to spend my remaining time at home. We are guessing (we have not been given a number) that this means I’ll live anywhere from a week to several weeks.
I know this news is depressing, but you should all know I will die happy to have served the Lord and you all in the ways I have. God has been very good to us, gifting me in discernible ways and, I think just as importantly, given me heart for the lay community – all of you. I desired nothing more than to empower all of you to study Scripture more deeply, to unlock the Bible for you in ways inaccessible to all but scholars. This brought me a special joy.
Let’s turn to the future. As you all know, when I pass I will join the family of God and his council, to which all of us as believers presently belong but “not yet” in its fullness. This is what awaits me, and I am glad. We will see each other in the future in unimaginably glorious ways. Until then, I have great hope and earnest expectation that all of you will contribute, or continue to contribute, to my ministry. Thousands of you have expressed how my work and content has changed your lives. I believe you, as my own experience, described briefly in Unseen Realm, was equally life-altering in my own case. My view of Scripture and purpose in ministry life was never the same after encountering and processing the divine council worldview and Deuteronomy 32 worldviews. Thousands of you have also expressed the desire to help further this content ministry or movement, as some have referred to it. NOW is the time. It is time for you all to think not about content you will receive from me, but what you can do to make sure other people discover the content that changed your life and outlook on Scripture. If you contribute to Miqlat, please continue to do so. The same goes for Naked Bible and the DRMSH community. Great amounts of content now depend directly on your continued to support, so please take the long look of ministry to others. All of these I have begun in some way are crucial to keep my content live and free online for others to discover and pass on. I can no longer do that. I am spent in service to you, so now it is time for you to do replicate the blessing you’ve experienced in the lives of others. I die with the belief that you will, like I did, take the long look of being a blessing to others to help them rediscover their Bible for the first time and to embrace the gospel as believing loyalty. Please be a part of what is now taking shape for the glory of the kingdom. I’ll be greatly blessed by you all.

Reading his books and taking his courses in Logos changed the way i see the Bible. It's like pulling back the curtain and seeing what's really going on. I met him once here in Jacksonville when his movie premiered. All we can do now is share what we've learned from him with others and look forward to fellowshipping with him in the kingdom.

What a blessing Dr. Heiser's ministry has been to so many of us. I rejoice that another saint has fought the good fight, and finished his course. Blessings to Dr. Michael's family as they grieve through the anxiety of separation.

I saw this too last night. Prayers of peace and comfort for him and his family/friends. I've greatly benefited from engaging with his work.

Definitely prayers from me for Dr. Heiser. My sister died of pancreatic cancer, it was only 60 days from detection to her death. It's undetectable unless they go looking for it, the pancreas is so small. Dr. Heiser was blessed to have had the time he did to prepare for his journey to the Lord. He will be missed.

My prayers are with you and your family. May the God of Comfort be with you!

Dr Heiser child of God; Jesus died so that all might have eternal life. Hold on to his unchanging hand and go beyond the veil into his presence. I'm praying for you and your family. Bless his Name!
Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

I am so grateful for this man's work. But he's about to be more precious in the sight of the Lord.

If Mike is reading this...
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have blessed me. Really..
As someone who's in medical field, I pray that God would ease your pain as you fight your final battle. And as I read your message above, I'm happy that you are stronger than many of people that I have stood with next to their bedside on their last breaths in ICU. And I thank God that you are surrounded by your loved ones at home. No better place than to be with you loved ones at the last moment.
I'm praying for your family as well to stay strong in the grace of God.
Thank you..

Thank you for all you’ve done! Give Abraham my regards and sit back and relax when you get there! Everything will be alright!

So, so sad. Dr Heiser has been a blessing to me and the Logos community in numerous ways.
I can't be sure, but I think I heard this story from Don Carson. He was visiting someone on his death bed and asked, "How are you doing?" His friend replied, "Not very good, but nothing that a good resurrection can't fix."

My heart is with Michael Heiser, his family, and his friends. I am a little jealous of the timing--you get to be here and love others, and be loved, and also to know you will soon be in the presence of God. I went through a cancer and considered my journey to be like that, but God had a better plan and kept me here a little longer.
Forever we will glorify, God. But we have this short day here to strengthen Believers and to spread the Gospel--which we cannot do from there. Let's be busy doing that today like Michael Heiser is.0 -

Amen! Thank you for posting. My heart is heavy today with seeing this and finding out the news on Morris Proctor. Thank God for the wonderful hope we have in Christ

Thankful for Heiser's work. I have only started it, but joined his community group for Q & A and readings each week. One of my favorite times has nothing to do with the content of his work, but his profound gratitude in God's hand in connecting him to Logos. He was so very emotionally touched at God's timing and provision. I don't know that I will readily recall all of the content he has shared, but I won't forget the beauty of that honest, raw moment of genuine gratitude and love. So very special. Praying for all who love him.

He was my Hebrew professor online at Liberty. It was the hardest class I took in Seminary, not just because it was Hebrew, but because Dr. Heiser was tough. He demanded a lot but also helped me to read the Bible for myself, to dig deeper, and most importantly, to think for myself. His passion for God's word is inspirational. He will be greatly missed.

Praying for him as well. With Morris Proctor passing away, Dr. Heiser on the brink of passing, and Dr. J. from the Accordance podcasts also having health issues, it’s been a sad month.

Indeed this is sad news. I too have very much appreciated his publications in Logos as well as his videos on-line. He has inspired so many and is continuing to do so in the way he is handling this challenging time of his life.

I am grateful his suffering is over, and I pray the Lord will hold and be present with his family in a miraculous way in the coming days, months, and years.

Man, I’m curious as to how things look like over on the other side! Some day I’ll know for sure. Until then, my prayers go out to his loved ones so they don’t grieve like those with no hope do! R.I.P. and enjoy the unveiling of the unseen realm 👍😁👌 Lucky you, Mr. Heiser!

I will cherish this man's writings and Mobile Ed courses. His work on this side of the Lord was otherworldly. I pray for all who knew and respected him and his friends and family peace that surpasses all understanding. May he hear "well done my good and faithful servant."
Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.
