Why I don't use the great new feature of question and answer - an appeal for votes on suggestions
The current implementation of question and answer is focused on topics and on resources that provide canned answers. In my tradition, this applies primarily to theological training. Personally, when I teach a session or two for RCIA or mystagogia, my focus is on liturgical theology -- not the dogmatic theology. The vast majority of the time, my base is Bible text and what is useful to me is indexed by Bible reference. I have seen others in the forum concerned with the accessibility of the current data; I would share this concern if I perceived the data as useful. To make this data more broadly useful, I see three shortcomings, each of which has a feedback site entry.
- As the question and answer data is keyed primarily by topic, add it to the Topic Guide and the topic records in Factbook. See Expose question and answer data | Faithlife
- While the current data is keyed by topic, it should also have as properties the references included in the answer so that a search can find questions and answers related to a passage. See Expansion of answer label data: References | Faithlife
- The current data should be supplemented with questions (often from Bible study guides) that lack answers but are designed for discussion, review, etc. Expansion of answer label data: questions without answers | Faithlife
- Those who are involved in creating Bible Studies for non-adults may well wish to add a question type attribute ... but that is outside my area of expertise to define (and therefore request).
There are few other suggestions on this new data but there are requests for resources which would expand it:
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
