Logos mobile select/copy/paste method in notes has a copy bug
On mobile/tablet, copying & pasting text content with Scripture verse references or only verse references themselves in notes using the Logos app's selection method (which seems to not be the regular, built-in Android method of selecting text & moving the cursor) doesn't work or work properly.
You can demo by the following:
1. Have a note with text content & verse references. Some or all verse references can be separated by a new line (making a list of them) to be of a similar setup.
2. Press & hold over a verse to bring out the Logos select options & press the copy icon.
3. Find another place in the same note for pasting or even in another new note.
4. Press & hold to bring out the Logos select options & press the paste icon.
5. The text content is pasted without the verse references.
If I do a similar thing of just copying one or more verse references & then pasting them in the same note or a new note, nothing happens except for sync activity (as if changes happened).
Now, verse references or verse references with text content originating from another place & using Android's built-in select options method (or even using a keyboard with select/copy/paste abilities) to paste into a note in Logos works correctly (verse references included with text content).
So, it seems Logos copy method is bugged with a flaw.
Attached are some pics demonstrating this with a copy of a note I've worked on from a Passage List I've made with the same name (except for the "test test" part; not public but maybe at some point).
Also, this does not happen in the desktop app (When I tested this. Though I think copying from a webpage with verses to a Logos note had an issue like this? I can't remember right now.).
Though I found these work around methods, I hope this can be fixed.
Thank you & God bless!

This problem seems to have re-appeared.
Copy/paste of a passage from logos into google docs has worked fine for years. It has always pasted the selected passage reference and verse numbers. All worked fine 2 weeks ago.
But today it has completely changed the formatting: no reference/citation prefix, nor verse numbers. But it has added a citation suffix, which I do not want.
I don’t recall changing any logo settings at all in years. I believe the only time I’ve changed Citation settings was today, when trying to fix this problem, to no avail. And the problem persists after restarting the app, changing Bible versions/translations, ….

What format do you have set for the copy&paste?

I don’t know. I don’t recall ever seeing or setting a ‘format for copy/paste’ option.

a citation style setting was introduced in the most recent release

Ok, thanks Graham. I see there is a long list of citation styles. which style setting gives the same result as previous versions?

I don't know which settting gives the same version as previously - I didn't use copying from mobile in any significant way.
SBL Manual of Style does give verse numbers - I suggest you experiment with the different options.

Steven, you may want to try just toggling the Citation setting off. That might give you what you had previously. To do so:
- Tap on the More menu (three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner)
- Tap on Settings at the bottom of the list
- Tap on Citation settings
- Tap on the toggle next to Copy citations.

Thanks Ali
I should have thought of that!

Yes, just turning citations off provides the behaviour I want.
Not exactly intuitive but a good result nevertheless.
Thanks Ali for the solution - and others for offering suggestions. Appreciated.

I finally figured out the new Citations settings on mobile and this needs to be rethought. In my opinion, it was a great addition to include citations for mobile, however, in 99% of instances, it does not make any sense to copy/paste bible verses in APA (or other) citation style. On the other hand, it makes sense 99% of the time to copy/paste other resources with citations. The solution set now requires constantly switching the citations on/off in mobile when using the copy/paste function for lesson prep, journaling, etc. Logos needs to make the distinction easy and obvious for users to copy bible verses without citations. Thank you. -Chad

I'm confused, What would be the format of a citation without a style? I'm missing something about what you are suggesting.

I am using the latest logos version on the latest Mac OS
i want to paste bible text into documents with verse and chapter numbers, but as of about two weeks ago I am getting all the references. Can just verse numbers be toggled on ?

If on mobile, open Settings in the More menu, select Citation settings, toggle off Copy citations
This does include the name of the Bible used along with chapter and verse number

couple of things:
- there is no indication of which direction the toggle is on or off. to the right seems to be OFF and when it is OFF the verse and chapter numbers are not pasted.
- when it is ON (to the left) the verses and references disappear.
Perhaps there is another setting I am unaware of??

It is on when the toggle has a blue(ish) background

Sorry - what is the difference between verse and chapter numbers not being pasted and them disappearing?
