'Commentary on the NT Use of the OT' price concerns.

At $65 USD, Logo's copy of the Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament is more expensive then the physical edition for sale on Amazon ($57 USD) and on par with Book Depository ($66 USD).

Book Depository even offers free shipping worldwide, so it's possible for me to purchase the physical edition (which weighs 2kg) and have it shipped from the UK to my door in Western Australia for practically the same price as the digital version on Logos. My question is, what's up with that? Why is the digital version on Logos more expensive then the physical edition?

Additionally, this resource isn't eligible for any academic discount, despite it's heavy use within the academic/college setting. Again, why is that?

It all has to do with what licensing deals Faithlife can negotiate with the publishers. As much a smaller company than Amazon, they can't survive on as slim margins as Amazon can, because Amazon makes up for it with tons of volume. And they don't have as much clout to negotiate favorable pricing for themselves from the publishers.

I had an assignment this week that involved the genitives in Philippians 1, how they functioned, with some quotes from various commentaries thrown in for good measure, and some searches that took seconds what would have taken me hour/hours.
for me, costing more is worth it. Also used the one you mentioned above to tslk about Paul’s use of job 13:16 in Phil 1.

But after the book arrives, you still have to go thru it, and link the pages to your Logos. The glue is messy, your computer screen is hard to read and sticky too, and .... well, maybe the extra $2 would be easier.

My guess is digital preferences are pushing digital prices. My second guess is they compute in later sales discounting (often discounted).

The price is frustrating but it is one of the top 5 most useful tools in my library. If I had to buy it again at twice the price, I would.

Also, has anyone seen the resource on sale? It's too much for me at its current price now but happy to wait for march madness or black friday etc if there is a good chance it will be discounted then.

Like DAL, I got it for $39.99. But that was in 2015 and I have no clue if it was on sale or not.
I don't really know, but the academic discount program doesn't seem to be particularly targeted to books that are common in academia, it is just more of a generic perk when they can negotiate the price with the publisher.

Yeah okay, it would seem that negotiation plays a larger role in prices then I've previously recognized.
