This is an "I told you so" post in that I have been complaining about the merging of records and the use of topic records to stand in for the actual records since midway through the development of Factbook 1. This is concrete evidence of the mess that has been made. With the Assumption of Mary/Assumption of the Virgin example, Factbook needs to deal with:
- Assumption of the Virgin - a pseudepigrapha writing
- Assumption of the Virgin - an event possibly combined with the dogma
- Assumption of the Virgin - a dogma possibly combined with the event
- Assumption of the Virgin - a feast day in the liturgical calendar
However, when adding Factbook tags, the user is asked to select an ambiguous "topic" record rather than selecting writing, theological topic, or calendar item. The result of this abuse of "topic" records is shown in the following screen shots where the Factbook entry is for the writing. However, the items in red boxes are unrelated to the pseudepigraphic writing.

Work needs to be done to ensure that Factbook tags can be assigned accurately ... I am finding myself deleting entries because attaching them to "topic" as instructed has resulted in inaccurate data.
