L/V 10+ Tip of the Day #116 Available workflows and the related books

Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: Workflows and Beyond - Logos Forums

There are at least 28 workflow templates provided by Faithlife and more than 300 shared templates - many simply tests that have not been removed by their owners. To view available shared templates:

Select Guides and Workflows on the tool bar
Select "Get more shared workflows"
OR to create a new workflow in the workflow editor, select New.

If you see a shared workflow template that is of interest, you may download it as a custom workflow.

Filter by type: Workflow Template
Find a workflow template that is of interest and click on it
Click on the popup "Add to your docs"

It the workflow template is not useful, it is easily deleted.

Select Guides and Workflows on the tool bar
Click on the title of the custom workflow you wish to delete to open a menu of actions
Select delete

Among the available templates you will find templates built for a specific church, templates built for specific seminary classes, templates intended for personal use by the creator, templates built to implement the workflow of particular resources, etc. In the list below, I have listed all the Faithlife templates of which I am aware, a sample of the shared templates that I thought were good examples, and a few proposed templates where I see obvious holes. Please help me expand the list.

Some of the workflows, I would use only to walk through a particular system once or twice so that I could evaluate what I want to take from the method and what I want to forget; others I can see using consistently as the notes build a useful reference resource; others I can see using as a teaching tool for the students to use to the extent that they find it useful.

I admit, I don't use Workflows at all. I see Worflows as a way to gather Scriptures for a topic.... but I use Passage Lists for the same thing and Passage Lists have a bit more functionality.

And Passage Lists work in mobile... which is a big factor.

Many people don't use workflows at all and have no need to do so. They would be a very inefficient way to gather scripture references for a topic so you are correct that Passage Lists are a better tool for that. Think of workflows as worksheets/guides/graphic organizers to asking the right questions in the right order to study particular scripture and scripture topics - both to learn new skills and to keep you honest on old ones. It is very easy to slip into reading scripture with only your favorite questions or questions that don't challenge your preconceived notions.
