Screen Layouts – how can you know which named layout is presently open?

I use layouts frequently to prevent repeating the gathering of the books for a particular verse in the NT/OT or a Bible book and then placing the frequently used layout on the top ‘title bar’ for quick activation. The problem: when I’ve had one open for awhile or return after an ‘overnight’ I can’t remember which one is presently open. Is there a way of knowing which pre-set LAYOUT is currently being used?

Same situation occurs when you update a layout as you must re-type the exact name or it will create a new one. You haven’t lost the change, but if you don’t notice that you have typed it differently and you use the button on top, then it won’t include that change as it was saved with a different name.

Hi Larry. Welcome to the Forums.

At this point the named/saved layouts have some weaknesses. I don't know of anyplace except in the layout window that the name shows. Hopefully, some of the items that have been being mentioned on the forums will be addressed. You can search the forums for other suggestions that have been made.

A number of us have asked for help in this area... but so far, we've had only limited help... I'm one of them, after I inadvertently opened a bunch of OT books in my NT layout & then overwrote my OT layout thinking that was what I had open.

To UPDATE your named layout, you shouldn't have to key the name in again. That's one help in this area that Logos DID provide.

Click layout, then on the LH side of the window that opens right click on the name of the layout you have open (assuming you can remember [;)] ), & you'll get a context menu that allows you to Update To Current Snapshot. No key-in. While that at least enables us to avoid re-key of the name [:)], as you point out it depends on our ability to know what named layout we have open. No help, for that. [:'(]

Agreed this is a much needed improvement to layouts
