Zondervan Counterpoints (41 vol)

Greetings all, I was wondering if anyone has the Counterpoint series? It seems $400.00 or about $10 per book is a discount price. I don't recall it on sale in the past. I do have the Spectrum Multiview (27 vol) and enjoy it very much, especially the interaction between authors as each defends their positions.
So has anyone found the Counterpoint series a great research tool? Is it a solid value? Is there another resource that is formatted on point-counterpoint framework that I have overlooked? I know many commentaries do engage other views- I have lots of commentaries. The Lexham Research Commentary also does a good job at juxtaposing different views.
Love getting to know you all over these many years. I don't post often, but have never been disappointed. I do feel I should be stepping up to answer some questions here myself ( so I ask this with a bit of user guilt ).
Much thanks in advance, Cal

Yes, I find the Counterpoints and Spectrum books very helpful. The quality of each book is generally good (a couple of volumes might be weaker depending on the authors and the editors). But in general they're often my first stop when researching controversial topics, theological or social.

One item to be aware of is that many of the Counterpoints books lack any non-Protestant/Anglican perspectives, so you miss out on Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, etc. views, even on subjects where there are obvious crucial differences, e.g., church government. Some volumes, perhaps principally (some of the) newer ones, do offer offer a non-Protestant perspective, e.g., on Heaven.
In general, it's important not to assume that a particular Counterpoints volume contains within it some representative of every major Christian view on the issue at hand. Additional research is necessary.

They are helpful but Logos is still missing the Hell edition, Volume 2.
I wish they would get it and complete it.

that is super strange, because I have it. In fact, the second edition includes as a bonus, the entire first edition. I have both first and second with an extra copy of the first included in the second as a “Bonus content.”

Same here, DAL, but my second edition is just a Faithlife ebook version, unlike the first edition which is a Logos Research Edition.

Correct. Many moons ago, the 2nd edition was sold on Vyrso (FLEB predecessor). I also own it but as mentioned above it is an ebook. It should really be included in the collection as it moves the conversation forward on the topic.
Contributors and views include:
- Denny Burk – representing a principle of Eternal Conscious Torment
- John Stackhouse – representing a principle of Annihilationism (Conditional Immortality)
- Robin Parry – representing a principle of Universalism (Ultimate Reconciliation)
- Jerry Walls – representing a principle of Purgatory
BONUS CONTENT: Includes entire first edition of Four Views on Hell to help readers grasp the history of the discussion and how it has developed over the last twenty years.

This one is missing on Logos as well. There’s been a new resource request on the feedback boards for a while but no traction so far. Super weird that they’re missing random volumes from the collection.

I thought I’d seen that in Logos. Some items get removed for whatever reason.

Thanks for pointing this out, Jon. I just logged a vote. Here's a link to the feedback page: https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/logos-book-requests/posts/counterpoints-four-views-on-creation-evolution-and-intelligent-design-zondervan
