The media files are missing for the following links in that blog post:

A user was asking about how the creator of Logos Bible Software felt called to do it, and I wanted to point them to an interview with Bob about how he got into making Bible software, but I can't do it.

In fact, all the links to media in all of these posts are broken (I suspect it's the case with many old posts, though I haven't looked further than this series). Perhaps the media files still exist somewhere, but the paths have changed.

This series of posts is an important part of Faithlife's history, so I hope the media files can be restored from archives if they are missing, and made available again through these blog posts.

bumping this post so it gets another chance at a helpful response

MJ, I appreciate your bumping posts that are for general response by users, but when they are specifically for FL, I think that bumping makes them less likely to ever be seen, since they will no longer show up in the "Unanswered" list. If a FL employee sees it while it's still on the first page of posts after your bump, fine, but if not, it'll be lost forever. It does seem that some Faithlife employees do occasionally go looking for posts that have no answers yet. For something like this I would have been happy to hope they'd see it someday. I strongly doubt they will want to deal with bringing over old media from the old blog to the new blog anyway. But one can always hope...

This is a reasonable concern but it is not borne out as per comments by Bradley and watching to see if the bumped posts get picked up. However, if you want, I'll not bump your posts to Faithlife.

No worries, then. Mine was only a hypothetical concern, not based on experience. If you've experienced the opposite, I'll trust what you say.

This is a good question—I'm not sure if those files still exist. The site is close to 20 years old, and many old files weren't stored correctly and were lost/corrupted. I agree that we should try to keep those videos if we can, so I'm going to see if I can find any of them. No promises, but I'll give it a try!

Thank you! I hope you end up finding them. They probably have some interesting content, though it's likely not many if any would watch them at this point, so don't put yourself out too much over it.

Actually, those videos are there. If you click on the links in your own post, they will download. Same when you right-click them in the blog article and then "Save link as" (or similar in your browser). Left-clicking there still throws an error.

That is great news! Jennifer Grisham, take note: it will be easier to fix this then you might have thought. The video files are all there; it's just the blog coding that needs to be fixed. It looks like it uses http://embedthevideo.com to embed the videos, and that site no longer exists. Need to find some other way to embed them (apparently that site's sole purpose was to generate the HTML code for embedding a video, so perhaps that code could be put in the web pages directly instead).

The entire blog will need to be reviewed for instances of this code and all instances replaced. Sounds like a good job for a summer intern. (Make sure they test each instance they change too!)
