Q: Factbook: Why books not linked to authors?

Dear Faithlife,

Why don't Factbook articles for books like https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=LLS%3aKTHLSCHDGMTTHLG automatically link in some way to the Factbook articles for their authors ( https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bio.gerhardludwigmuller_1 )?

(You can, for the purposes of answering my question, ignore the fact that the Factbook article for the example author does not in this specific case recognize him as the author of the example book... the behaviour is currently the same even in other cases.)

Because that feature was never implemented, although it was one that we wanted to add.

That's because the person you linked is not the author of that book. The author is Gerhard Kardinal Müller, who doesn't seem to show up in Factbook at all. I've reported this lack to our data team.

I learned that the two names do represent the same person, but the issue of the book not showing up on the author's page is still an issue.

You wording implies that this is not an ongoing or upcoming feature. What other features implied by Factbook have been placed on hold or buried?

That makes sense. It would still be nice for you to add it in the future.

Now you also have an extra example of the consequences of the violation of the principle, noted by me repeatedly in the Factbook Typos thread, that Faithlife needs to pay attention to titles like Fr, Dr, Rev, Cardinal (and now Kardinal!) and post-nomials like PhD, SJ, and OP, and scrub/merge/fix Factbook articles appropriately now and again.

I suggest creating a master list--the ones I've given in that thread would be a good start--of such titles and having someone knowledgeable review it every month or so. After the first month, it probably won't take too long if done regularly. You may want to separate the "Catholic" ones like Cardinal/Kardinal and SJ into their own list so that you can ensure that someone truly qualified is doing that sifting.
