Option to permanently delete documents
There needs to be a way to permanently delete documents from the server. I understand and appreciate the ability to restore locally deleted documents from the server.
Over the years, I have many documents that I played with, accidentally created, etc. that I know I will never need again. I would like to be able to permanently delete those to make it easier to find legitimate files that I may want to restore.
Prayer lists may need to be permanently deleted for privacy reasons, etc. (I have established some better practices with prayer lists now, but that wasn't always the case--and prayer lists weren't always archived to the cloud!)
Others may have their own reasons for wanting to permanently delete documents. I understand that safeguards would need to be put in place, and appropriate warnings should be given to reduce the possibility that someone will accidentally delete a file they wanted to keep.
The option to permanently delete documents (for whatever reason) needs to be provided to users as part of good privacy and data stewardship.

click on the document in the recycle bin - "Delete permanently" - problem solved?
I don't think this addresses the general issue that Timothy raised
The option you highlight relates to Notes (as far as I can see) and not the more general case of permanently deleting any Logos document we have created.

Correct. My view is that the "Delete Permanently" functionality for notes need to be expanded to all Logos documents.

Yes.
By all means make it take extra work to delete stuff permanently, but the option should exist.

It is a necessary function but should go through the standard prioritization process as it requires significant resources (in the sense that it will delay the implementation of other requests).

I meant extra work on the part of the person deleting them. I apologize for my lack of clarity.

I agree that there should be a prioritization, but, IMO, this needs to make it on to a roadmap with a plan to implement. Cloud-based services need to have methods for users to delete personal data.
I'm sure that the ux team would want to review and perhaps enhance it in the future, but for now, I would be satisfied with a button on documents.logos.com that says "Permanently Delete," similar to the current "Undelete" button.
Ideally there should be a way to select multiple documents and delete all at once, again like the current undelete functionality on the website. (I know there would need to be appropriate warnings to the user about not being able to recover if they permanently delete, etc!)
I understand that my "simple" request would probably not be simple to implement. Things rarely are as simple as they appear.

Timothy,
Customers have requested this option for years now. It must be an option for users of any commercial cloud-based platform.
In addition to file management, the protection of personal and sensitive information is a paramount concern nowadays. The ability to remove unwanted information will limit their exposure to data breaches. This should have been an option from the very beginning of the cloud-based platform.
Now with a subscription model and more timely updates hopefully this unnecessary risk will be addressed, while I trust they make every effort to secure the information that customers wish to retain.

Go to Your documents and delete there. It should be permanent, and as far as I know, you can access all types of documents there.

It is not permanent there either, you can change the drop down from Available to Deleted, where you will only have the option to Undelete.Jan Krohn said:Go to Your documents and delete there. It should be permanent, and as far as I know, you can access all types of documents there.
