Acts and the Crucifixion

Why does the Greek translation read in Acts (Luke-Acts) that Jesus was killed by “hanging him on a tree?” I want to understand the reasons for discerning terminology that we see in Acts 5:30, 10:39, and 13:29.

Well, unfortunately, the writer of Acts passed on, a while back, so we can't ask him. Only speculate.
One clue which you should have already reviewed was the similarity of the greek in Acts, to the LXX greek in Deuteronomy (matching a pattern in Luke/Acts).
The other clue might be Romans mainly hanged (reportedly) people on wooden 'trees' (and attachable limbs). But that's also speculation; not a lot of Roman crucifixion literature to work with.

DMB thanks for the speculation. I was looking for that in research books and monographs.

Commentaries will also give pointers.

Christian? Maybe you could be more clear/specific about what you're asking.
Do you want to know about Roman crucifixion practices?
Do you want to know if Jesus was "hung" on a tree? something like what the KK did back in the day. deplorable as it was/is?
Do you want to know if there were two parts or one to the killing item. Cross bar and stake.
Was the upright stake/stauros already awaiting the 'criminal' laid down ready for the prisoner to be tied/nailed to it and then hoisted up in the cruciform and put in the hole?
Have you considered the 'patibulum' and the 'stauros'?
What did Simon of Cydrene carry on behalf of Jesus? Mt 27.32.
Have you read Martin Hengel's book - Crucifixion: In the Ancient World and the Folly of the Message of the Cross ? if not, do so.
Also, you could do some research on how the Watch Tower and Tract Society/JW's interpret how Jesus was "hung" on the 'tree.'
