SUGGESTION: Intergration of narrative event information

Would this be a helpful view of pericope-Biblical Event Navigator-labels information?

That is what this Integrated view of narrative scripture | Faithlife asks for -- go ahead and vote for it. In this example of 1 Kings 17, I made a bar chart of events tagged by Logos:

  • top line is the pericopes from my preferred Bible - note the title on the bar itself
  • the next line is the events at their lowest level in the Bible Event Navigator
  • the remaining lines are labels that reference 1 Kings 17 that are events  - note that the title on the bar comes from the label.

Note that putting this in visual form may expose problems in the data DATA BUG: Elijah's famine - Logos Forums or missing data (perhaps all the punishments in the Bible?)

I envision the chart linked to label data and definitions; factbook; interactives; and eventually to a detailed view by verb. However, if this approach doesn't spark your interest, I'll not bother to make suggestions to expand it. My aim is simply to take the FL torrent of tools/data and turn it into manageable information.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

How long did it take you to generate this diagram?

Well, there was the time spent fighting with Microsoft so I could use the application rather than the browser version of the tool. Then there was the time spent fighting the formatting of the Bible reference in Excel before I recognized that the custom number format has been removed. But once I had Word as an application ready to create a new document, it took about 30 minutes. A bit of programming could get it down to "instanteously". If I were actually to implement it, there is a bit more data I would create -- call stories, pronouncement stories, punishments came to mind as "missing" -- and I'd do a bit of a review on the current data

I am a Bible enthusiast, not to imply that this is at all unusual, and I find this to be remarkably useful. Besides reading the Bible itself this visual support reinforces the reading experience. It is much more useful than the pericope alone. BTW I have voted for this and support early implementation of this approach to the presentation of the data.
