Thomas Nelson is having their sale (a plug; some good titles not often discounted). And thanks to Paul (Caneparo) for highlighting the various sales each month.

This sale had a theological volume I'd not considered, so I clicked on it. It had the usual publisher boilerplate, and then 'Top Highlights'.
Now, to avoid getting into a theological discussion, I'm not including the title. And not including the 'Top Highlights'. I grant, not the usual.
However, being of a conservative 'bent', I was rather shocked by the highlighted statements. 'Shock' or at least excessively surprised. Somebody wrote THAT?!
My first thought was 'is it wise to pull quotes potentially out of context'. Absent reading the book, my mind was made up! But is that fair to the authors?
And, the authors weren't crazy people (most well regarded), so I traipsed over to the Big A, to see the reviews. Kind of bouncy; not a lot. But the critical piece of missing information on Logos, was the theological orientation of the authors. Packaging the quotes inside their overall 'worldview' (theology) would make more sense.
I just wonder if the 'Top Highlights' helps or hinders purchasing. I didn't buy the book (but good price).
