Linking from external apps

I just converted to Mac from Windows. I'm a teacher, and I have many Powerpoint slides where I've created a hyperlink to a Bible passage in Logos. When I try this now, I get an error message: "Cannot open the specified file." I've re-created the link in both Powerpoint and Word (MS Office for Mac 8) using L4 B6, and same result. Is this feature not implemented yet, am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug?

Hyperlinks should be working. Can you upload a Word or PowerPoint document that exhibits this behavior?

OK, here's a sample. On this slide there are three links. I copied the location via the "copy location as" section of the resource panel. On the first 2 links, I copied as URL, on the third I copied it as HTML. Same result (for me at least). There'll be two error msgs, the second is the error I noted in my post. The first msg is the MS Office security warning. I was able to fix that on the Windows side with the prescribed registry hack, but I haven't looked into it in the Mac world yet. If you know how to deal with that on the Mac side, I'd be extra grateful for a tip or link. Thanks for your help!

It would appear that Office is trying to be too smart for its own good. Rather than taking your link as typed, it's assuming that you really meant to link to a file on your computer (while our URL scheme is perfectly valid according to W3C specifications, it also looks just a tiny little bit like a Mac file path from the days before OS X). As a result of this, it's munging the link that you typed in and turning it into a file path (for a file that doesn't exist: hence the message).

I've tried the following workarounds, to no avail:

Copying the link into an HTML document, then copying the link into an Office document (no hyperlink comes into PowerPoint, hyperlink is munged in Word).
Copying the link into an HTML document, then opening the HTML document in Word (hyperlink gets munged).
Creating the link in a Pages document, then copying the link to Office (Pages only allows the http and mailto protocols).

At this point, I'm out of ideas (except to create the document on Windows), unless linking to bible.logos.com is a workable alternative for you.

OK, thanks for working thru this on your side. I've posted to an Office for Mac forum to see if there's a workaround on that end. Linking to the website is not really a viable option for my purposes.
