BUG: Lag in Sermon Editor on iPad

When writing/editing a sermon on the iPad, there is a LOT of LAG. I believe that the app is constantly trying to update/save what is being edited, but it ends up interfering with what one is editing.

The two most common issues I’ve found…

  1. When typing, the editor suddenly becomes unresponsive, the cursor jumps to the top of the document. When you find your place in the document, typically some text that was already on the screen is missing, as well as text you had been typing when the app froze.
  2. Even more commonly now, the app freezes repeatedly when using arrow keys to go up/down or when deleting blank lines.

A temporary but only partial fix I’ve found is to disconnect from Wifi. Even then, however, the app will freeze from time to time similar to what I’ve described above.

    David,

Thank you for writing out this detailed post to describe your experience.  This is very helpful to know and I will be talking with our development team about it today.  Just as an FYI, and this may not be what's happening for you, but we have seen this type of behavior happen often when the sermon that is being edited is open on the iPad but is also open on another computer on either the desktop app or web app.

Again, this may not be your situation, but just in case, I figured I'd let you know that the chances of this happening are less when it's only open just on your iPad.  Either way, this is something we are eager to improve on and will be discussing a game plan of how to best attack this very soon.
