Greek Verb Acts 12

I noted Acts 12:13's translation of the Greek verb o (hypakousai), a conjugation of the underlying verb (hypakou), as "[to] answer": When Peter knocked on the door at the main entrance, Rhoda, a servant, opened it. (NIV) Nearly all of the KJV's translations of this Greek verb translate it as an English verb conjugation, "obey." Having said that, does the Greek word normally imply that the subject of the verb has shown evidence of faith?

See Spicq's TLNT. You're mixing your forms:

εἰσακούω, ἐπακούω, ὑπακούω, ὑπακοή

eisakouō, epakouō, to hear, listen to, heed; hypakouō, to heed, obey; hypakoē, obedience

The former is closely related to listening to a god, especially as the LXX translators followed the greek usage. The latter (yours) is close to agree to, or obey (eg answer)

Sorry but I can't make heads or tails out of this question unless I omit everything related to lemma and inflection. From the final sentence I think your question is one of syntax and semantics not grammar.

I would work my way through the references shown in the BWS sections below and determine if the implication fits with all cases.
