Opening resource on left side of screen

When I try to open a resource when my layout is empty, it always appears on the right side of the screen. I want the left side of the screen to be where it opens. Is it possible to modify this setting?

No.

Instead of opening it by clicking it. Left click it and drag it to where you want it then release it.

Or it is the evolutionary effect of dead tree desk layouts -- Bible in center, note cards to the right, reference book to the left and stacked in front. Major research papers may add open book(s) to the upper left and upper right. Small desks and desperation may add floor right and floor left. Of course, those who are left-handed put the note cards on the left ...

I honestly don't know why the right-side opening is bothersome. I'm a lefty, though ambidextrous ... can't remember which hand signed my voting registration! I think it's the crossover effect ... the Logos menu is left-oriented, but pops right. Similar is a a right-side hamburger menu popping left.
I'd bet, as a UI issue, it's significant to most people.

I would think that users want to open more than 1 resource from a blank screen. So why not FIRST select the resource you want on the RHS then select a resource you want on the LHS? After that, you get the relatively random choice of sides imposed by Logos, or you select & drag to the required location.
If necessary, you can select full screen from the Layouts menu (top left) after opening the first resource.
