Translate Feature Not Working Consistently on Android Mobile App

When using the mobile app on my Android phone, I am often unable to translate foreign language phrases into English from otherwise English-based resources. I get a "could not translate into target language" error. Examples would be almost any Latin phrase in an English book. This only happens when I have English (System) chosen as the target language. If I choose any other target language, it seems to work. This makes me think that it's not simply a feature limitation when the resource language is different from the language of the highlighted phrase. Another strange twist is that if I translate from Latin language resources, the translation is fine into English.
The attached example is a Latin sentence highlighted from Barth's Church Dogmatics, Volume 1. The Latin will translate into French, but not into English.
I couldn't seem to find any other mentions of this on the forum. Any thoughts?

I would run a search to see if the Latin is tagged as Latin or if it is being treated as if it is already in English.

Foreign language strings will generally not be tagged unless they're set in italic typeface in the book, which is a (weak) indication that the author considered the word or phrase to be foreign. So, for example, if an author italicizes "Weltanschauung" it will probably be tagged as German; if the author casually uses it in plain text without calling it out, then maybe/probably not. These days, words like "zeitgeist" and "schadenfreude" show up in my English spell-checker by default, but books of older eras called them out as foreign.
Book titles and abbreviations are an especially gray area case, and I suspect the editorial policies over the many years have been neither 100% consistent nor applied 100% consistently. We've also corresponded before about whether or not a Latin phrase in common usage (such as "e.g." or "per se") or technical terminology (such as biological nomenclature) has crossed the language barrier.

Thanks, MJ. The cited discussion helps me understand how languages are handled in Logos. However, I failed to mention it, but the same translation experiments that fail in the mobile app work fine in my desktop app. The problem is limited to the mobile app and is quite repeatable across multiple resources of various types. So it makes me think that the internal language tagging in the resources is not the issue.
[Also, I haven't had a chance to search documentation thoroughly yet, but initially I cannot see where such language tagging is exposed to the user in the GUI or searchable]

Bumping this thread as I am having the exact same problem; has any solution been found?
I am reading a book on my Android. I just came across a quote a few sentences long in German. After I highlight the text and select translate to the System Language (English) it gives the error, "Could not translate to target language." It will translate it to any other language.
On the desktop app it translates just fine. Something is wrong with how the Android app is handling this.

Please let us know which book this is, and where the German quote appears.
We can then look into this further.

It is not just this passage; on page 13, for example, there is French and it won't translate it to English either.

Sean, thanks for bumping this. It is still a problem for me over a year after I originally posted. The problem is seemingly across all resources and limited to the Android mobile app. I try it occasionally (usually on a Latin phrase, sometimes German), just to see if an update has fixed it, but no luck so far.

I have not found any non-English text in this work that the mobile app will translate into English.
There are other problems as well. Translation into Spanish worked fine (but I want English). When the target language was set to either Latin or Hindi, the German text was simply transliterated, not translated. This latter problem I can replicate in the desktop. It can however translate English into Latin or Hindi.
